Operation Graduation Centennial hosted its very first Operation Graduation Night on August 27. Centennial Administrators, Guidance Counselors and several teachers participated in the event to provide parents and seniors with information about graduation requirements.
Village Green Environmental Studies School welcomed their amazing bus drivers back to school with a breakfast and PBS training on Friday, August 28, 2015. VGE loves their drivers!
On Thursday, August 27, 2015 many Village Green teachers, students, and families attended the Barnes and Noble Book Fair. The night was a great success. Guest readers read to the book-hungry crowd.
Centennial High School launches Project Eagle. Every Athlete Giving Leading Excelling. Project Eagle is a program designed for student athletes to represent Centennial by volunteering in the community. There will be extensive volunteer opportunities throughout the year and each student athlete is encouraged to volunteer for at least 20 hours. It a way for our student eagles to give back to our community and make a difference. Eagles Making a Difference
Fourth grade students at West Gate K-8 participated in the presentation “Wildlife Around Us”. This program allowed them to meet an owl, hawk, baby alligator, and snakes. The students learned about the need for habitat protection and how to co-exist with native wildlife.
The St. Lucie Public Defense Office is sponsoring a tie drive to support SGA’s Leadership Days. All middle school students participate in a Successful Scholar elective focusing on goal setting, organizational, study and communication skills needed for success in college and careers. Each Thursday, students are encouraged to wear “Professional Dress”. Seventy ties have been donated for our young men to wear. Bayshore Elementary would like to thank all of our local heroes who joined us for our Tunnel of Hope welcoming our students back to school on Monday. We were joined by the Port St. Lucie Police Department, St. Lucie County Fire Department, and the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie.
Northport VPK-8 School Community, along with Northport ESE instructor, Marie Solide is proud to invite our entire community to participate in a 5K Walk/Run to benefit “Tough Kookie Foundation, Inc.” Tough Kookie, was founded last year with lots of work by Mrs. Solide who lost her beloved daughter, Kookie to Sickle Cell Disease. Northport administrators, teachers, students and parents have been behind Marie in her healing process and her building of this wonderful community support group and sanctioned 501c. Rivers Edge Elementary Otters had an outstanding first week. Beginning their day reading plays an important role in creating a superb way to begin their day and year. Staff and parents both are thrilled that students are increasing their fluency while beginning their day in a quiet manner. Our Staff was thrilled to receive t-shirts with our theme for the year – “Believe.” Joining together to believe in our students and each other to find a way (or make a way) to keep our school outstanding!
Northport VPK-8 students in seventh and eighth grades were treated to a visit in the media center by community partners (Port Saint Lucie Police Department) recently for a program initiative called StopLifting. The program led by Stacy Paton, Crime Prevention Specialist for the PSLPD, and Officers Jack White and Rod Dobler updated students on the hazards of shoplifting. Students learned about the technical camera systems that are now in retail stores, and they also learned that 89% of students know someone who has recently shoplifted. Mariposa Elementary’s 5th grade Monarchs received a well-deserved recognition for their participation in the NEED Project. This project encourages and rewards student leadership and innovation by sponsoring a Youth Awards Program for Energy Achievement. Students in the NEED program, led by Mrs. Carla Bargeron, were awarded the Florida Elementary runner up for their excellent job educating younger students in energy conservation. Exceptional teachers and students are invited to attend NEED’s National Recognition Ceremonies held each June in Washington, DC. Under the direction of Dr. Brett Lauren, PhD Director of Graduate Training Professor of Psychology at FAU, Grade 3 through 5 students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition will be participating in a research study entitled ” School Experiences in Childhood and Adolescence.” The purpose of this project is to examine how individual characteristics of friends shape child adjustment and school achievement.
Sheriff Mascara, deputies and firefighters along with School Board Member, Debbie Hawley, form a Kids at Hope Tunnel at Gaines Academy on the first day of school!
Gaines Academy was recognized by the American Reading Company for their 100 Book Challenge Reading program. Students reading levels increased on average 1.47 years during the 2014-15 school year. Believe in GAINS at Gaines!

Morningside Elementary teachers greeted the students with pompoms, noise makers, and positive signs as they entered the building on their first day of the 2015-2016 school year.
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Christopher’s Kindergarten class at Savanna Ridge Elementary were excited for their first day of school. Mrs. Christopher welcomed them with open arms and enjoyed taking a first day of school picture to capture the special day!
