Forest Grove Middle School is very grateful for our community partnerships with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and First Priority! These organizations meet weekly and provide mentorship and leadership opportunities on our campus. Fifth graders in Mrs. Portee’s class prepared for their upcoming science assessment on Forces and Changes in Motion through an interactive and collaborative review. The microphone ball was tossed from one classmate to another as they broadcasted their answers to complete the review!  

Force and Motion Mini Investigation Centers

Students at Allapattah Flats K-8 did some mini force and motion investigations before their unit assessment. They were able to see the effect friction has on the distance of the toy school bus versus when they placed it on the tile. They were also able to see the more mass something has the more force it has such as trying to knock down water bottles with a golf ball and a volleyball. We’re having way too much fun at Morningside Elementary during literacy week! 📚We’ve had superheroes visit campus, had fun with special guest appearances at Literacy Night, and even BINGO on the 100th day of school! We ended the week with a vocabulary parade and guest readers. We love fostering a love for reading in our community.

“Foods Up” for National Junior Honor Society members at Allapattah Flats

The National Junior Honor Society volunteered at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Fort Pierce.   The students earned time towards their required community service hours as well as giving their tips to the school to be used towards several planned activities.   It was a fun night and we hope to make this an annual event. Food service employee recognized in state association magazine

An article about the accomplishments of Southern Oaks Middle School food service assistant Patricia Johnson will be published in the Florida School Nutrition Association Magazine Fall edition. Ms. Johnson has worked with St. Lucie County Public Schools for five years. In 2008-2009, she successfully completed all requierements for the district’s Management Intern Program, in 2009-2010 served as president of the Florida School Nutrition Association and received the President’s Gold’s Award at the FSNA state conference. Follow St. Lucie County WeatherSTEM at Southport Middle School for up-to-date local weather. The Southport Middle School WeatherSTEM Unit is an integration of weather sensors that collects real-time atmospheric data and is available on the stlucie.weatherstem.com/spm  website or mobile app. The WeatherSTEM unit was donated to Southport through a grant by Meteorologist Edward Mansouri, CEO of Ucompass in Tallahassee. WeatherSTEM provides weather data to anyone with Internet access. The WeatherSTEM unit features updated radar, a cloud camera that takes a snapshot once per minute, as well as wind and tide information. Healthy Schools is scheduled to be at our schools during the week of October 17-20, 2017. Florida’s Premier High School Academic Competition

St. Lucie County won the Florida Academic Challenge! This is the first time since 2004 that team St. Lucie has won! Team St. Lucie was led by Coach Stephen Maxwell (Treasure Coast High School) and Assistant Coach Peter Miserocchi (Fort Pierce Central High School).  Team St. Lucie consisted of four members from Treasure Coast High School (Corey Pope, Aidan Ortado, Gabriel Gobi, and Sebastian Rebelo) and Fort Pierce Central student (Jayden McGregor) to make the winning team.
