Florida State Symbol Clay Tiles

Third and Fourth-grade CAST artists created Florida State Symbol Clay Tiles as a “practice run” for a larger tile mosaic that will be displayed permanently in the school’s administration building. Students focused on the Visual Art Standard VA.3-4.F.3.3: Demonstrate the skills needed to complete artwork in a timely manner, demonstrate perseverance, and development of 21st-century skills.

Florida Science Olympiad

Congratulations Fairlawn Force Team! A group of Fairlawn students competed in the Florida Science Olympiad at Florida Atlantic University.  Science Olympiad is a competition open to middle and high school students with a separate competition for elementary students. The team participated in various hands-on, interactive, inquiry-based activities.  The students had to do science during the competition, not just report on a topic.  The bridge building team placed second by designing and building the lightest bridge with the highest structural efficiency that can span a given opening meeting the requirements specified in the rules.
