On October 31st, FGMS hosted a lively PBIS Storybook Character Dance to celebrate students who consistently demonstrated positive behavior throughout the month. Mr. Donnelly and Ms. Thompson’s 8th-grade math students participated in an engaging group activity designed to introduce them to the laws of exponents. Eighth graders in Janet Clayman’s culinary careers class at Forest Grove Middle School recently attended a career exploration field trip to Indian River State College Culinary Institute at the Mueller Campus in Vero Beach. Lisa Lamarre, Academic Coordinator and Chef Deborah Midkiff lead a discussion on eating nutritiously by making informed food choices. Self-Care Week at the Grove has begun!! We’re going into spring break with pleasant vibes and good energy! Thank you to Discovery Coffee Shop, our community partners for supplying yummy beverages for our staff!!! Forest Grove Hosts Annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Forest Grove Middle School hosted its 5th annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater titled “Going to the Chapel and We’re Going to Get…Murdered?”  Students wrote and performed an original “whodunit” play filled with comedy and suspense after studying the elements of literature.  The cafeteria was transformed into a reception hall for the wedding of Olive Payne and Chris P. Forest Grove Honors Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, Forest Grove Middle School hosted a Black History Wax Museum. Selected students researched an African-American historical figure, created a poster, and gave oral presentations. Sixth-grade history students were afforded the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt and win prizes based on their knowledge of the historical figures presented to them. Figures included: Louis Armstrong, Mae Jemison, Whitney Houston, Mary McLeod Bethune, and many more!

Forest Grove Eighth Graders Take a Bite Out of the Periodic Table

In Mrs. Clarke’s eighth grade Earth and Space Science class, students apply knowledge they have acquired about atomic theory to create models of atoms using marshmallows and toothpicks! Students had to select an element of their choice form the periodic table, identify and calculate the amount of subatomic particles, select specific colors of marshmallows for each particle and create the atomic nucleus with orbiting electrons likened to the Bohr model. The best part of course was in the end when they got to enjoy them as a tasty treat!
