St. Lucie Elementary Honors Dr. Martin Luther King’s Legacy

On Monday, January 18, 2016, students and staff at St. Lucie Elementary honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the MLK Parade. The parade commemorates the life of civil rights leader and icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Students and staff participated in the Parade with signs in hand to celebrate in remembrance of his outstanding achievements and how they changed the course of history. SLE students continue to be active in their community and strive to maintain Dr. King’s vision.

Kindness Week Celebrated at Palm Pointe

Ms. Debra Snyder, Principal at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition along with Debborah Estrada, Dean of Discipline and Chairperson of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee proudly accept the Second Place trophy for Kindness Week.  Palm Pointe’s school-wide project involved collecting over 840 teddy bears from students and staff .  The “Teddies for Tots” were given to Sheriff Mascara to give out to children in crisis throughout the community.

F. K. Sweet Thanks the Rotary Club of Ft. Pierce

A special thanks to Mr. Calhoun, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Lowe from the Rotary Club of Ft. Pierce, who generously presented dictionaries to all third grade students at Frances K. Sweet Elementary Magnet School.  They were greatly appreciated!

Northport Presents Noteworthy Performance in Annual MLK Parade!

Northport K-8 School presented a noteworthy performance at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade held recently in Ft. Pierce. The weather was beautiful and the students, parents, and staff were thrilled to participate in such a wonderful and traditional event to help enhance community relations and mark the day with a flourish. LPA Basketball Player Scores 1,000 Points

On January 11th, Dyujae (Biko) Gayman scored his 1,000th basketball point as a Lincoln Park Academy Greyhound.  The LPA family of students, teachers, staff, and coaches are very proud of his accomplishment.  Congratulations Biko!!

Bayshore Students Receive Dictionaries

Third grade students at Bayshore Elementary were visited on Tuesday, Januray 19, by members of the Lions Club. Mr. James Coy and Mrs. Sandra Coy presented our third graders dictionaries as part of a campaign by the local Lions and Rotary Clubs. This year, both clubs have joined to provide all third grades in Saint Lucie County with dictionaries. Our students are very grateful for their generous gesture.

Northport Promotes Stellar Science Fair 2016

Northport K-8 School is pleased to present our 2016 Annual Science and Engineering Fair award recipients. Our students competed in numerous fields of science. All awarded scientists based their experimental research on trying to answer and solve real world problems. They showed creativity in scientific thinking and a desire to help mankind by providing solutions to real issues. First, second, and third place awards were given in each category of science. Bayshore Participates in Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

On Monday, January 18, Bayshore students, parents, and staff participated in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Parade. This year’s theme “Dream Forward: Choose Peace, Equality, and Change” inspired the float design that represented our school.

District’s STEM Sunshine State Scholar Announced

This year’s District nominee for STEM Sunshine State Scholar is Bailey Magers from Treasure Coast High School. Bailey, along with his parents and a teacher, who has served as a significant influence to him, will travel to Orlando May 19 – 20, 2016, for an extraordinary two-day program.  In addition to bringing together the scholars to be honored, the foundation invites representatives from Florida’s colleges and universities to meet with the students and discuss career and post-secondary opportunities available to them in Florida. LPA Participates in NPR’s Great Thanksgiving Listen

Mrs. Jamie Spooner‘s Honors English classes participated in the Great Thanksgiving Listen between the Thanksgiving and Winter Break.  This project, developed by NPR and StoryCorps,  allowed the students to interview friends, family, and important role models to allow their memory and voice to be saved to the Library of Congress.  It helped the students to continue to grow as communicators during their study of American literature.

TCHS Band Director Receives Award

TCHS is proud to announce that Mr. Luke Hall is a recipient of the Tom Bishop award for 2016. This is a very prestigious award given by the Florida Band Association to select band directors in the state. The criteria includes significant improvement in MPA scores and an increase in overall band membership numbers during their tenure.

Weatherbee Student Places First In 2016 MLK Youth Essay and Oratorical Contest

Jaguars Show Their Pride

The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion showed their pride at the annual Martin Luther King, Junior Day parade in Fort Pierce. Marching in this parade is a tremendous honor and privilege for Port Saint Lucie High. The Battalion formation was led by the Jaguar’s Color Guard and was commanded by Cadet Sergeant Major Travis Cetin carrying the National Flag. Cadet Captain Savannah Cymbal carried the State Flag. Cadet Private first Class Marco Nadar and Cadet Staff Sergeant Damilola Jolaogun posted as Guards. Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and the School Board Members for St. Lucie Public Schools enjoyed participating in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. This year’s theme was “Dream Forward: Choose Peace, Equality, and Change.”

Teachers Learning from Teachers at Palm Pointe

Teachers learning from teachers how they can teach students to find their errors through supporting their claim was the recent workshop for Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition.  This collaborative training was very informative and helpful to all those that attended.
