On Thursday, January 21, 2016, students, parents, and staff at St. Lucie Elementary participated in Literacy Night. In addition to the many other events SLE hosts to promote and support family involvement, teachers and staff lovingly served dinner and provided a variety of skill-based literacy activities for parents and children to partake. On Friday January 22, 2016, St. Lucie Elementary students who honored Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy during the parade were rewarded with an ice cream social. The participating students received a little break from class to enjoy ice cream with a variety of toppings served up by SLE staff in gratitude of their time and efforts contributed as well as their community spirit.
On Monday, January 18, 2016, students and staff at St. Lucie Elementary honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the MLK Parade. The parade commemorates the life of civil rights leader and icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Students and staff participated in the Parade with signs in hand to celebrate in remembrance of his outstanding achievements and how they changed the course of history. SLE students continue to be active in their community and strive to maintain Dr. King’s vision.
St. Lucie Elementary 3rd and 4th graders are well prepared for the FSA! Students who arrived on time and worked their hardest earned a chance to win prizes.
This past month our ESE classrooms are working hard in preparation for the upcoming Florida Alternate Assessment that will begin on March 2, 2015. They have been working on different engaging learning activities in order to be best prepared for the upcoming test. We are proud of the hard work that our ESE students have and continue to accomplish throughout the school year.
Students, Families, and Staff came together to celebrate our annual Valentine’s Dance! The dance was a success with a photo booth, face painting, and tasty treats! The DJ played hit after hit and everyone danced the night away!
St. Lucie Elementary families and students enjoyed our celebration of Literacy Week when they received free books during lunch in the courtyard.
On January 22, 2015 students that were selected as Lynx Leader (student of the month) at St. Lucie Elementary were honored at a special ceremony. They were awarded student of the month for showing the character trait of HONESTY in class and on campus. Here, 5th grade student, Javier Carrera, shows off his Lynx Leader certificate!
The First Grade students at Saint Lucie Elementary and their teacher, Ms. Tasha Otto, were excited to show off their Action 100 Reading strategies at St. Lucie Elementary during a recent visit from Orange County Public School Leaders. Action 100 has students actively engaged in reading at their “Fun, Fast and Easy” independent reading level for 60 minutes per day at school with an additional home-to-school connection .
