Cadet Diana Soto was recently awarded the “Pushed to My Max” Award for displaying exceptional physical courage during the 5k Team Run at the Port St. Lucie JROTC Raider meet last weekend. Diana is a member of the Elite Westwood Raider Team. She was congratulated in front of her JROTC class by her instructor, CSM Federico Dottin, and Westwood Raider Team Co-Captains Brandon Payen and Nathan Andrews. On Friday, October 14th, the host and creator of Jostens’ “The Harbor TV” Mike Smith made a stop at Lincoln Park Academy as part of his nationwide tour, visiting schools that embrace the Jostens’ Renaissance educational model. Treasure Coast High School’s Guidance Team initiated monthly Counselors’ Corner gatherings.  These meetings are designed for parents and guardians to meet the counselors of TCHS as well as have their voices heard and allow them to learn about some of the programs, resources, logistics, and roles of individuals at TCHS and the District. Students in grades K through 5 hosted conferences on October 20th and 21st.  The students were thrilled to share their hard work with their family members and their families were equally elated to see what their children have been learning.

The Florida Art Educators Association bestowed the prestigious Career Service Award upon Mrs. Heather Sullivan, a most deserving and outstanding fine arts educator. Mrs. Sullivan represents a generation of artists and intellectuals with an unprecedented dedication to knowledge and the learning process, accuracy, exploration, and accomplishment.  She embodies exceptional artistic vision and leadership. That is why this year she was awarded the Career Service Award for her lifelong dedication to art, art education, and students. Congratulations, Mrs. Sullivan!

Teachers and students at Morningside Elementary dressed in pink shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Bayshore students and families recently collected relief supplies for victims of Hurricane Matthew.  All supplies collected were donated to Missionary Flights International to provide relief and hope to Haiti in this time of crisis.

    Grade 5 students at White City Elementary are learning about different forms of energy.  Mr. Lewis provides hands-on learning opportunities for his students as they investigate and generate a hypothesis.

At White City Elementary classes researched and created display boards highlighting key facts about their country. Students were able to compare and contrast information as they conducted research using print and digital sources to extend their learning.    

All White City Elementary parents and students were invited to book fair night.  Students enjoyed shopping, selecting popular titles, and searching for Sunshine Readers.        

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition’s third grade students had a special visit from Port Saint Lucie’s Mayor, Greg Oravec.  Mayor Oravec talked to the students about what government means and how the different levels interact with each other.  He supported their learning by having discussions regarding the different branches of government along with how citizens can make a difference.

Students had the opportunity to engage in the Captain Wattage performance.  Students learned about energy and electricity.  Students also learned about the uses of energy, ways energy is wasted, and how to conserve energy.  

5th graders at Fort Pierce Magnet School of the Arts visited the SLC Aquarium on October 14th. Students were able to learn about the habitats of the Indian River Lagoon as well as the Atlantic Ocean. Students also had the opportunity to dissect oysters! Who knew learning could be so fun?
