They learned what owls eat as well as their natural habitats, and they also learned that owls can’t digest foods so they form pellets similar to hairballs. The pellets are filled with bones from their prey. Students were able to dissect sterilized pellets and match bone pieces to figures on a chart. A big thumbs up to this terrific hands-on lesson. LPA MS Students Preparing for the Next Step

On Friday, February 3, 2017, 26 select 8th grade students from Lincoln Park Academy toured several programs at Indian River State College during Middle School Great Explorations.  These students spent the day gaining valuable hands-on experience in the robotics, photonics, medical services, and computer animation/digital media fields.  The purpose of the trip centered on the connection between secondary education and the world of work, cementing the learning which took place during the 8th grade Naviance activities completed throughout the school year.  Feedback from the students was very encouraging and we can’t wait for next year’s trip!
