The Corral at PBPA: Feeding Families

Performance Based Preparatory Academy is one of the schools fighting to break the stigma between finance and food. In two months, Performance Based became eligible to be the site of a School and Teen Pantry. PBPA had to work with the Treasure Coast Food Bank to satisfy their application and site requirements. Once everything was completed, PBPA was officially approved to operate on November 15th. TCHS AFJROTC Trip to Kennedy Space Center

Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC cadets attended the Kennedy Space Center as a Cadet in Action field trip. They got to experience a rocket launch by the US Space Force and the cadets were in awe of the sights and sounds of the rocket. The cadets got a chance to look back to a part of U.S. History and experience an attraction unlike any other in the world. A Night to Remember

On Saturday, January 29th, 2022, the Port Saint Lucie JROTC Jaguar Battalion hosted their 27th Annual Military Ball. This event took place at Santa Lucia River Club. There were over 135 Cadets that participated, which also included parents and faculty. Once entering the ballroom, cadets participated in a greeting line by the staff members of the battalion. CAST Celebrates the 100th Day

CAST students participated in a variety of 100 Day festivities to celebrate 100 Days of learning. Kindergartners built with 100 cups, shapes, and snap cubes. First graders made a necklace of 100 fruit loops and second graders responded to prompts about being 100 years old. Third graders went on a scavenger hunt for 100 multiplication facts. We are 100 days smarter!   

Jaguars Conquered the Forest

On Friday, January 28, 2022, the Jaguar Battalion participated in the Drill competition at Forest Hill High School. Our Male and Female team competed in unarmed/armed squad and color guard. In the end, we placed 3rd in Male armed squad, 2nd in Male unarmed squad, 1st in Female armed squad, 1st in Female unarmed squad, and 3rd in Female color guard. Overall, PSL performed well and was able to bring home the 1st place trophy.

Village Green Students Enjoy BINGO for Books

Village Green Environmental Studies School launched into literacy by hearing the excitement of students playing a game of BINGO for BOOKS. The Literacy Committee received 60 donated books from the Children Services Council, through the St. Lucie Reads Initiative Program to help support the love of reading! Every student had an opportunity to play BINGO for a chance to win a book!

Launching Into Literacy Week at Oak Hammock K-8

Oak Hammock students, home of the Ospreys, soared to new heights during literacy week! Students participated in multiple dress-up days focused on literacy themes like “Reading Makes You Bright!”.  Students and staff dressed up in neon colors, read with flashlights, and participated in reading outside.  Everyone enjoyed the “Dress Up Like a Book Character” to see themselves reflected in a character’s world!

Lakewood Park Elementary Vocabulary Parade for Literacy Week

Lakewood Park Elementary held its Fourth Annual Vocabulary parade on Thursday, January 27th. Students and teachers dressed as a variety of words from math and reading terms to science and social studies vocabulary words. All participants shared their words and definitions in multiple ways. This event is meant to reinforce what the students have learned in the classroom—another great day at our school. Oak Hammock K-8 First-Grade Students Learn to Take Their Time

Students in Ms. Reynolds’s first-grade class incorporated a STEM activity to help identify and explain the moral of their text, When I Hurry. Students collaborated with their table partner to create and build a tower from toothpicks and mini marshmallows. This STEM activity gave the students an opportunity to demonstrate the lesson vocabulary: teamwork, problem-solving, cleverness, and strength. The Osprey family is proud of the student’s accomplishment and their ability to take their time and build their best tower.

100th Day of School at Mariposa Elementary

Mariposa Elementary Kindergarteners celebrated the 100th Day of School with lots of students dressing as if they were 100 years old. They also enjoyed a breakfast of French toast and pancakes showing 100. Students shared their colorful projects reflecting 100 items. The students really enjoyed celebrating the 100th day!

CAST Prepares to Shine!

Kindergarten, first and second graders at CAST were invited to Mr. Rahming’s musical theatre’s dress rehearsal for their upcoming show. Students enjoyed listening to a variety of songs from all the decades! Everyone was clapping and dancing along to these classic songs!   

LPA Student Madison Adkins is the 2022 Sunshine State Scholar for St. Lucie County

Congratulations to Madison Adkins on being selected to represent St. Lucie County as a 2022 Sunshine State Scholar. Madison was chosen based on her demonstrated interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related studies, grade point average, test scores, community service hours, and essay. Madison and her parents are invited to Orlando on March 31 – April 2, 2022, for a college recruitment fair and a special awards presentation. Jaguars Excel at Drill Competition

On Friday, January 21st, 2022, the Jaguar Battalion started their Drill season by traveling to Santaluces High School. Our female and male team competed in an unarmed/armed squad, color guard, and solo/duo exhibition drill. PSL ended up placing 1st in both male and female armed squad, 2nd for female color guard, 3rd for female unarmed squad, and 3rd for female dual exhibition. Overall, the Jaguar Battalion finished 1st and it was a great way to start our Drill season.

Adventure Van Visit

On January 20, 2022, the U.S. ARMY decided to travel to Port St. Lucie High School with their incredible Army Adventure van. The Jaguar battalion and several other elective classes had the chance to see and interact with technology inside of it. Thanks to the help offered by the U.S. ARMY, the operation was able to run smoothly and effectively. It was a fun, informational experience, and we hope to see it again.

TCHS JROTC Marches on MLK Day

On Monday, January 17, 90 Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC cadets led the high schools in the annual Martin Luther King Day parade in Fort Pierce. On MLK Day, we are encouraged to reflect on the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change espoused by Dr. King. Catapults at CAST

Mrs. Proctor’s 6th grade Science class is working on a unit about force. To reach the learning goal, students will understand the difference between contact forces and forces acting at a distance and be able to describe how an unbalanced force affects an object. Students set out to build catapults! Students were able to build catapults out of any material on the table, test their inventions with catapulting a cotton ball, recording the distance the ball traveled, and answer questions about force and motion.
