Southport Middle School is Running Full STEAM Ahead! Southport Middle School presented an amazing night of events on December 19th across the school campus for our students and families. Run Run Fast As You Can! Fairlawn Elementary Caught The Gingerbread Man

At Fairlawn Elementary School, the kindergarten Gingerbread Man Hunt has become a beloved tradition, and this year’s event was one to remember. The day began with the shocking discovery that the gingerbread men had vanished from the cafeteria ovens. Determined to solve the mystery, the students set out across campus, finding evidence of a very mischievous gingerbread man who had been making messes, taping people to the walls, and even catching an elf in his pranks. Routten Shines In Education

C.A. Moore Instructor Nardi Routten recently stood before the Florida Cabinet as a teacher of distinction so that Governor Rick Scott could recognize her with the Shine Award. This prestigious award is presented to teachers and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education. St. Lucie Public Schools couldn’t agree more as Nardi is a 20-year veteran educator and the 2015 Milken Educator Award winner.  She is also a member of the Teacher Leader Fellowship Group 2016, member of Leadership Florida, Education Class II and is currently working on her second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. … Read More

Routten Recognized by Board

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced that Chester A. Moore Elementary teacher Nardi Routten is one of five leaders from around the country who has been appointed to the National Assessment Governing Board.  Ms. Routten will serve a four-year term during which she will help set policy and assist in the identification of subject area content for the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as the Nation’s Report Card. The School Board and Superintendent recognized Mrs. Routten for her teaching excellence and for her prestigious appointment. Congratulations, Mrs. Routten!

ROTC Raiders Represent PSLHS at State Meet

Congratulations to 1st Sargent Pollino and the PSLHS Raider Cadets on a job well done! Out of the 86 schools represented, Port St. Lucie High School finished 4th, missing 3rd place by a couple of seconds. Nonetheless, they gave it their all and we are so very proud of their accomplishments. Way to go Jags!

ROTC cadets perform saber guard for Night of the Stars

Two cadets from every JROTC program in St. Lucie County Public Schools participated in a saber guard drill for the entrance of the finalists for Teacher of the Year and School Related Employee of the Year at the school district’s Night of the Stars ceremony helt at Lincoln Park Academy. The two cadets from Port Saint Lucie High School were cadet Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Mabry and cadet Staff Sergeant Robert Hopkins. All the cadets that participated in the ceremony performed exceptionally well. Rotary Club members visits Mariposa Elementary

Mariposa Elementary School third grade students recently received an early present! The Sunset Rotary Club of Port St. Lucie visited the school and distributed dictionaries to over 120 students, and shared some songs and dictionary games with the students.  Pictured are Rotarians Lenny and Vickie Lloyd entertaining the students.  

Rotary Club Gifts Northport K-8 Third Graders

Many thanks to the Noon Rotary Club of Port St. Lucie for the gift of brand new dictionaries for Northport K-8 third grade students!  Angela Hayle from ACCH Insurance Agency visited the school as a representative of the club to deliver the dictionaries. Students were thrilled to learn the longest word in the dictionary and the different ways that the dictionary can be useful. Thanks to Angela and the Noon Rotary Club — you do amazing work for our community!

Root and Rocket Garden at Palm Pointe

Recently, first grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition celebrated the inauguration of the “Root and Rocket Garden.” A ribbon cutting ceremony took place with first grade teacher Rebecca Benton organizing the event. Second grader Londyn Wilson, curious about Mrs. Wonesh’s cart, asked, “Why do you have words on the front?” Mrs. Wonesh explained that these are important vocabulary words for everyone to know, as part of her “rolling with vocabulary” initiative. She then introduced Londyn to the prefix “un-.”

“Rollin’ with Dads” Breakfast at Southport Middle School

Southport Middle School hosted “Rollin’ with Dads” breakfast on Wednesday, September 28th with great success. We were happy to see over one hundred of our dads, granddads, uncles, big brothers and male teachers who took the time to be there for students. Rockin’ Red Riding Hood at White City Elementary

White City Elementary students enjoyed a dramatic production of Rockin’ Red Riding Hood.  Students made connections between the stage presentation and the traditional story version.  Students had a rockin’ good time as they compared point of view, themes, and the pattern of events.  

Rockets Soar at the State BETA Convention!

Palm Pointe 4th – 8th grade BETA members soared, at the 2019 BETA Florida Junior Convention! So many memories were made, as these students represented our school with poise, determination and creativity. Rockets Celebrate 100 Days at Palm Pointe

Palm Pointe kindergarten and first grade students came all decked out to celebrate the 100th day of school.  Boys and girls were seen using their walkers and canes to get around school today as they were dressed as 100 year old ladies and gentlemen.  Some of the students took the time to create shirts with 100 items on them.  Wow, are these students creative!   They were all thrilled to celebrate their 100 days of learning thus far.

Rock star inspires fifth grade Floresta students

Valerie Doyle’s fifth grade class at Floresta Elementary School recently was visited by Tim Polzin, a personal friend of Ms. Doyle’s who lives in Saint Lucie County.  Tim is a famous bass guitarist who currently fills in when needed for various performing bands.  During his career as a musician, he has traveled all over the world and has played with many top rock and country bands.  He brought two of his favorite guitars, which were custom made for him by Stuart Spector .  Each guitar was valued at over $10,000.  Mr. Polzin spoke to students about the importance of staying … Read More
