Lakewood Park staff made some very special summer visits. Staff members hopped on a school bus and dropped off backpacks with summer supplies and food, as well as celebrated all students scoring a level 5! A huge shoutout to Transportation for supplying a school bus to transport our staff members, supplies, and yard signs! Congrats to all our Falcons for their hard work this year preparing for state testing. We are so proud of you!

Did you know that each of our school’s cafeterias has a dedicated baker to make fresh baked menu items for our students? Last week our bakers were hard at work training to ensure the highest quality products are served at each of our schools. All of our bakeries are made with whole wheat and comply with the National School Lunch Program guidelines.
It was an exciting day for the St. Lucie Public Schools community as the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated “DDD” High School took place on June 13, 2023. Ms. Hanson, a Fort Pierce Central High School graduate and Criminal Justice Academy program completer is now giving back to her community. While in high school, Ms. Hanson earned her Accredited Legal Professional (ALP) industry certification. Ms. Hanson then went on to Keiser University and earned her degree in Paralegal Studies. She also became a certified Paralegal. Working now on the Treasure Coast, she is also a member of the Keiser University Advisory Board committee under the leadership of Dr. Record, where she is giving back to the community and schools.
Students in Mr. Norcia’s & Mrs. Cooper’s class competed in the Special Olympics! They utilized teamwork, sportsmanship and lots of effort. Teachers and students had a great time. Thank you to Mr. Norcia for organizing this wonderful event and the student volunteers who also participated!
Congratulations to the Class of 2023! Last week, Superintendent Dr. Jon R. The FPWA JROTC Program worked with members from Fort Pierce VFW Post 8058 to place approximately 500 American Flags on the graves of past service members at Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce. It was such an honor to be a part of this mission, in recognizing those who sacrificed so much in defense of our Nation. Cadets from the FPWA JROTC program traveled to Lakewood Park Elementary to work with Ms. Witkamp’s 3rd grade class on another Skills Enhancement Activity. Our Cadets were put into teams with the students, then they participated in a 10-Station “Mental and Physical Scavenger Hunt” designed to promote teamwork and improve problem-solving skills by making it fun. Teams had to complete a physical exercise and mental activity at each station before advancing to the next event. Graduating seniors participated in our first Graduation Walks to our local elementary schools. We celebrated and shared their success of reaching this amazing achievement of receiving their high school diploma. We went to White City Elementary, St. Lucie Elementary, Lakewood Park Elementary, and Chester A. Moore Elementary. It was especially wonderful to revisit the schools that they went to when they were younger. Thank you to the students and staff for cheering on our Panthers as they reach this huge milestone! 🎓

The Port St. Lucie High School Boys Unified Sports Team placed 6th at state competition in the 4×100 Relay race. We are so proud of them and are thankful for their coaches – Valdemar Krigger, Martha DiMeo, and Ann Marangio for all of their support!
Mrs. Menezes’s Science students at Performance Based Academy recently participated in a lab project that combined their science knowledge and creative skills. The goal of the project was to reinforce their understanding of the diversity of Florida’s Everglades, and how different animal species adapt to different ecosystems. Students enjoyed the hands-on activity and were able to incorporate their creative and imaginative skills to create clay creatures that inhabit the Everglades. The Marine and Oceanographic Academy held their annual Bon Voyage Senior Night at The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute! The Senior class celebrated one another and all their accomplishments. They were awarded their graduation cords, superlatives, and shared a beautiful slide show. The students showed their gratitude to Deputy Pate by making her an honorary lifetime MOA member, complete with an autographed life jacket. The Senior class also continued their tradition by passing down the MOA Paddle to the rising seniors.
On May 16th , Lincoln Park Academy hosted its first incoming 9th grade IB Student Breakfast! Current 8th graders at LPA who are entering into the IB program in the 2023-2024 school year were invited to attend a welcome breakfast. Students spent time with upperclassman IB students having breakfast, talking about the IB program, and socializing with one another. LPA looks to the incoming new IB cohort, graduating class of 2027!
