Camp Orlando is an elite 4-day journalism workshop geared toward Yearbook and Newspaper programs in high schools. The program offers multiple, interest-based tracks for students and advisors. Ms. Emily Royo attended the Experienced Advisor Academy and collaborated with other advisors in the area. Advisors shared best academic practices along with suggestions for classroom conditions and structure in order to maximize work efficiency while balancing strict deadline management with compassion. As Treasure Coast High School prepares for their first home football game of the season, Titan Sound is also preparing for their first performance. The band students have been working day in and day out to ensure they are ready for Friday night. They are even getting creative using unique spaces on campus to practice. Titan Sound has been under the leadership of Mr. Ingram since 2020. Mr. Ingram has high expectations of his students and with their hard work and dedication, Titan Sound is off to another record year. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

On Tuesday, August 22, Lincoln Park Academy students and Lincoln (our school mascot) came together to celebrate last year’s accomplishments and set the stage for success for this upcoming school year. Students participated in a review of school-wide expectations led by Principal Herrington, Dean Cobb, and Dean Harris. Lincoln Park Academy students strive to achieve high academic goals through being productive citizens both within and outside of our school community. Go Greyhounds!        

The countdown is over and football season is here! Gathering at the game starts at the heart of Cobra Nation. FPC Boosters give a grand send-off to our Cobra football team by sharing their game-winning enthusiasm and filling their plates with a hearty spaghetti dinner! Cobra Nation staff are spotted supporting their team with another fun-filled and food-filled time before kick-off. Cobra Nation fans are ready for another great season! Go Cobras!

The first pep rally of the year brings a sense of energy, enthusiasm, and celebration to Cobra Nation! In a way that only Cobras can, students at both lunches showed up and showed off their purple and gold pride. Band, Flag Core, Cheerleaders, SGA, and Dance Team dialed up the spirit for our Cobra Football team. More than ever, school spirit takes on new meaning, new purpose, and new direction for a school with over 3,200 students. Cobra Nation is a community of its own–one heart, one spirit, many voices!      

Students at Chester A. Moore received a warm, cheerful welcome to the 2023-2024 school year from our community partners, caring volunteers, and district staff at the start of their school day. We love the support for our Kids at Hope mission.

On Friday, August 18th, 2023, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first Football Honor Guard parking detail. They had a total of 85 Cadets who volunteered to direct cars for parking at the Honor Guard. First-year JROTC Cadets had the opportunity to work alongside their leaders and learn how a parking detail works. The Treasure Coast High School Titans varsity football team won their first home non-conference game against the Osceola Kowboys by a score of 22-8. The Titans are now 1-0 on the season. Chester A. Moore Elementary’s 5th Graders demonstrate deep understanding, while justifying their responses in a Think, Turn, and Talk discussing, “What do stems do for plants?”  

Move over Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right, Central’s PBIS Prize Wheel is spinning in action! Cobras are spinning the prize wheel at lunches every Monday and Wednesday for a myriad of prizes. Rewarding positive behaviors reinforces Cobra Nation’s expectations for a successful year. Teachers nominate students demonstrating expectations with a ticket to win. Students spin the prize wheel with a winner at every turn. Students get to enjoy a refreshment, prize, or Cobra perk! Keep up the positive choices Cobras!  

Students in Mr. Logue’s STEM Science class investigated how pulleys affect the force needed to move objects.  Students were engaged in the practice of science by performing an investigation using pulleys.  First, students had to construct the block and tackle pulley system.  Then, students had to determine how the system affects the force needed to move the object.  Through this hands-on experience, students gained a better understanding of how pulleys work and how simple machines make work easier.

Mrs. LaChance’s class practiced their class read-aloud procedures and started their first 4th grade Everglades lesson from the Everglades Foundation. They read “Everglades” by Jean Craighead George and discussed why it is so important to work together to protect the Everglades. Then extended the activity by discussing the beautiful figurative language that they found in the book. Students chose a line that they felt created a vivid mental image and created artwork to share that mental image with their peers. ☀️ #MSEshinesBRIGHT  

On Friday, August 18th, Treasure Coast High School celebrated students for their academic achievement on their AICE exams. AICE is an international diploma program where students can earn a diploma via an advanced academic curriculum and assessment program written and administered by a non-profit department (CIE) of the University of Cambridge in England. For the June 2023 testing series, 708 students passed one or more AICE exams, 78 students earned AICE Diplomas, and 100 students from the class of 2023 graduated with their AICE Diploma. Treasure Coast High School is proud of our students for their hard work and dedication.

When the new school year starts, new Cobra students are welcomed to campus. Part of the welcome and acclimation process is a campus tour for all ninth graders. Mr. Hoyos, a veteran automotive instructor takes extra time to introduce students to the skilled trades opportunities at Fort Pierce Central High School. Pod teachers in Building 1 South are ready to open Cobra Nation to new family members! Smiling faces greeted new and returning Cobra families at Open House. Students and their families met teachers, learned the lay of the land in Cobra Nation, and were reunited with friends at long last. From a sea of purple & gold in the courtyard to perfectly curated classrooms, teachers rolled out the Cobra royal carpet for families.
