Fourth and Fifth grade students from Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition were recognized as the first Beta Chapter.  Beta stands for promoting the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership.  Students collected many items throughout the school year and donated them to several different charities. These students work hard each and every day and are leaders in the school. Treasure Coast High School’s Criminal Justice and Biotechnology students competed at the SkillsUSA State Conference in Lakeland, Florida.  Students pictured, competed in a range of events from Career Pathways Showcase (Science and Public Safety) to Community Service. Students competing in Community Service, designed a fun way for everyone to get involved in a recycling program.  The group had a problem and came up with a solution that is innovative and good for the environment.  Students in Criminal Justice, Law and Public Safety developed a Crime Prevention Program.  The students addressed the problem within our community involving at-risk youth and the … Read More

7th grade Civics students at Palm Pointe won 2nd place in the state in the 3rd annual FLREA mock trial competition. Students were given a case and had to write opening and closing statements, question and cross-examine witnesses, and then videotape their presentation of the case for submission. The students would like to thank Mrs. Oliveira (Centennial H.S. Law Academy) and Judge Narline Smartt (St. Lucie County Court) for their invaluable guidance and assistance.

Pre-K students in Mrs. Buescher’s class were treated to free comic books donated by local comic store, Collector’s Comics. Students were so thankful and loved reading about their favorite superheros!

Dr. Hillard presented the PBIS team and Morningside faculty and staff with the PBIS model school banner with bronze for the year 2014-2015.  Congratulations!

MSE Blue Jay High School Seniors come back to the nest for a last visit!  From left to right they are Julia Theiss, Syia Hill, Nicole Hernandez, Jessica Smith, Rachel Jones, and Maddie Sands.  Syia, Nicole, Rachel, and Maddie were all in Ms. Williams-Johnson’s 5th grade class.  Ricky Estrada joined them shortly after the picture. An inspiration for our current Blue Jays!!!!  

  Cobra Pride Winners for 2016

Bayshore Elementary School is excited to celebrate our Sunshine State Readers!  The Sunshine State Readers Awards Program is a statewide reading motivation program which encourages students to read independently for personal satisfaction.  Students earned various prizes throughout the year, including an ice cream party and trophies for those who read all 15 books!  Congratulations!

Today on the Wilderness Club’s final hike, we discovered that an Eagle Scout finished our outdoor classroom down by Otter Pond and it is ready for teachers to come out with their classes and use.  In our final 14 days as students are getting antsy and need a change of scenery, this is a perfect venue for a science lesson, a springboard into writing, a class reward/read aloud, a place to do some personal journal reflection about their school year or summer plans.

Albert Morgan is a rising junior in the Allied Health program at SLWCHS. He is an excellent student, always attending school, on time for class, and always well-prepared. He is an active member of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Albert is a member of the Boys & Girls Club, belonging to the Chuck Hill Unit. Mayor Hudson Presents Dan McCarty Middle School with Treasure Coast Regional League of Cities Civics Grant. Seventh grade Civics students from Dan McCarty Middle School (DMMS) visited Fort Pierce City Hall on Wednesday, May 18, to learn more about municipal government. Mayor Linda Hudson presented the school with a grant of $500.00 from the Treasure Coast Regional League of Cities (TCRLC).

French teachers Madame Elie and Mr. Johnson paired with culinary teacher Chef Strell to allow Fort Pierce Central French students the opportunity to create their own profiteroles (French cream puffs). Students learned to make a pâte a choux (pastry puffs), crême Chantilly ( Chantilly cream), and a hot chocolate sauce. The students worked in teams of three to create the batter and cream, and received pastries to fill, and customize on their own. Frances K. Sweet had their Shining Readers celebration to honor the fourth and fifth grade students that read 15 Sunshine Books and have earned 500 or more Reading Counts points.

Jonah DiCuia, Lauren McEwen, Jordan Hunt, and Jenna Franklin were treated to the movies this Saturday by their third grade teacher, Ms. Marla Liberatore for exceeding 200 Reading Counts points in third grade.  Great job!  Keep on reading!

The Speakers Bureau Special Guest Speakers at Dan McCarty Middle School this month were Representative Larry Lee, Mr. Jerome Rhyant, Reverend Kenny Mills, and Mr. Lafayette Ashley. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students had the opportunity to hear the authentic testimonials of their guest speakers. Three separate sessions were held to accommodate each grade group and each session began with a musical presentation from Dr. Rolanda Jones and her students playing their African Drums.  

Mrs. Logue’s fifth grade students at Fort Pierce Magnet School of the Arts got to take a closer look at the food chain earlier this week as they dissected owl pellets to discover what prey the owl had consumed. Students had a great time and even got to take the bones they found home with them when they finished!  

VPK Wildcats in Ms. Buescher’s class have worked hard all year! Students have learned letters, sounds, beginning reading strategies, numbers, addition and subtraction, science, social skills and more! We are so proud to move you up to Kindergarten next year! Congratulations to the VPK class of 2016!
