Through the generosity of Palm Vista Church of God, Pastor Howard Riley presented a check in the amount of $500.00 to Dr. Rolanda Jones (Chorus Director) and Mr. Justin Reed (Band Director) to support music education activities at Dan McCarty Middle School.
Congratulations to Dr. Rolanda A. Jones, Chorus Director, Dan McCarty Middle School, who was recently honored with FMEA’s 2018 Music Education Service Award. This award recognizes the outstanding service of members who have been active in music education for 25 years or more.
Twenty students representing Dan McCarty Middle School recently joined their voices with other middle school singers from around the Treasure Coast area to participate in the Four County Middle School Honors Choir at Indian River State College. The students were selected based on their musicianship skills and the recommendation of their chorus director, Dr. Rolanda A. Jones.
The Florida Atlantic University Latin American Choral Ensemble, iCantemosunda under the direction of Dr. Patricia Fleitas, recently performed for the Dan McCarty Middle School Chorus. A unique and versatile collegiate ensemble, the group performed selections representing cultures from Brazil, Afro Cuban, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.
A private donor recently gifted the music students at Dan McCarty Middle School a Yamaha Baby Grand Piano. This generous donation will enrich the lives of many students and the music they make. The chorus is directed by Dr. Rolanda A. Jones.
The Singing Eagles Choir from Dan McCarty Middle School recently participated in the District 13 Music Performance Assessment earning straight “Superior” ratings. The choir received an “A” rating from all four judges in performance and sight-reading. In addition, the students were highly praised for their performance. The chorus is directed by Dr. Rolanda A. Jones.
Sixteen students representing Dan McCarty Middle School chorus recently joined their voices with other middle school singers to participate in Music in Our Schools Concert. The event was held at the Fenn Center. Each year, elementary middle and high school band and chorus students come together to rehearse, perform, and promote music advocacy in St. Lucie County. Dan McCarty students included Graceline Jean Baptiste, Latracia Washington, Jaquicia Green, Jahari Bethea, Daijah Greene, Shekinah Hyman, Britney Eliassaint, Alisha Aldona, Desire Creel, Laura Williams, Qudalupe Moreno, Christine Michaud, Francesca St. Tellien, Alana Jones, Janicia Larcher, and Krishnan Valdes.
