Northport K-8 School has been the fortunate recipient of the assistance and support of the First United Methodist Church of Port Saint Lucie.  The church and the school have joined mission statements and worked together for the good of the children of Northport and to benefit the community.  Northport is a Title I school with a 100% free lunch population.  The support and good will from church members has been phenomenal and has truly brought community services directly into the school.  Not only have church volunteers helped out in classrooms, but they have also kick-started the Northport Summer Reading Program. LPA Creative Writer Wins at IRSC

Isabelle McConville represented Lincoln Park Academy in IRSC’s annual Creative Writing Contest. She won 1st place in the 10th grade category with her short story titled “When We Fall.” The award was presented at IRSC’s main campus during a reception for writers on March 30th. May ArtSpace Features Cobras

The Fort Pierce Branch Library’s ArtSpace features works by students from Fort Pierce Central High School on display during May. Showcasing two-dimensional works from students, several of these pieces were part of their senior portfolio. Inspired by contemporary and classical artists, the students’ work experiments with various lines, values and movements, creating incredibly intricate designs and sophisticated compositions. The Fort Pierce Branch Library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Fridays from          9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

PSL Jaguar Battalion Field Day

Jaguar Battalion Field Day   Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their own field day on May 6, 2017. The JROTC unit uses field day as a way to reward the cadets for their hard work and achievements, as well as, to use the teamwork and leadership skills they learned in the program. Positive Partner for Vet Tech

Fort Pierce Westwood’s Veterinary Tech program welcomes CORE Contents Restoration’s partnership and support.  The company’s generous donation of supplies will support various activities within the Veterinary Tech program and will contribute to the fund raising efforts of an anesthesia machine. This purchase will help achieve the goal of opening a surgery center on campus to expand student opportunities for learning and growth. Mariposa Elementary Fourth Grade “Rocks” the FSA

At Mariposa Elementary, several people donated rocks to encourage and inspire Ms. Erica Morales’ students to do well on their Math FSA. She hid the rocks around her classroom the day of the Math FSA. The students were surprised and went on a rock hunt. They had a blast!  The rocks were meant to inspire the students to do their best. LPA Impresses at Leadership Conference

Members of the LPA Health Occupations Students of America, or HOSA Club, attended the 2017 State Leadership Conference in Orlando between April 7th and April 9th.  The Club was represented by Kassandra Sanz (senior),  Adriana Sanz (sophomore), Diana Ion (senior), Catiana Romain (senior) , and Club Advisor Mr. Sadlocha.  While there, Kassandra Sanz was recognized as a bronze recipient of the Barbara James Service Award for community service and for placing 10th overall in the Healthcare Issues exam.  In addition, Adriana Sanz placed 2nd overall in the Courtesy Corps volunteer category and received recognition for her contributions to HOSA Happenings, … Read More

Utility Box Art Blossoms in Fort Pierce

Student art is blossoming in Fort Pierce. As the project continues to grow throughout St. Lucie County, two of the latest utility boxes to boast of artwork by SLPS students can be found near 25th Street and Orange Avenue and Indian River Drive and Citrus Avenue.  The beauty of the artwork spread throughout the county is a joy to behold throughout all of St. Lucie County.

Change of Command Ceremony

The Change of Command Ceremony is a ceremony to pass the command from the current Battalion Commander to the incoming Battalion Commander. Northport teachers are participating in an intensive book study led by Assistant Principal Meghan Drost using Engaging Students with Poverty in Mind. Future Educator Off To Great Start

Arielle Fountain represented Fort Pierce Westwood in Gainesville at the FFA Agriculture Education Career Development Event (CDE) and placed in the top six to advance to the State contest in June! Arielle developed a lesson plan, taught UF professors, and took a written test on the standards she was assigned to teach! She plans to major in Ag Ed at the University of Florida, and is off to a great start!
