Northport students in Sandra Tyndale’s eighth grade class and Jennifer Lusardi’s second grade class collaborated with students from Fort Pierce Central High School and Lincoln Park Academy visiting Northport as Dual Enrollment students from Indian River State College. The dual enrollment students visited Northport as an assignment from their college level American Government class. Students, Samantha Huynh, Anthony Lima, Adriana Sanz and Nayeli Silva are running a mock campaign for Governor of the State of Florida. On April 10 – 14, the Fine Art and Performing Art students of Treasure Coast High School hosted their Annual IMAGINE art show. This year, the show was hosted at TCHS. Visual Arts (Drawing, Painting, Graphic Design and Photography) and Performing Arts (Dance, Acting and Singing) were all a part of this show. During the day, many teachers brought their classes to the visual arts to experience photography, painting, drawing and graphic design. FORT PIERCE, FL – The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opens Friday, April 20, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This years’ show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor Building located at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. An awards ceremony at 7:15 pm will pay tribute to the talents of students with first, second and third place awards in six categories along with a Peoples’ Choice award. Fort Pierce Central’s “Poison Pens” spoken word poetry team won Semi Finals in Jason Taylor’s 4th Annual Louder Than a Bomb” poetry slam. As one of the final four winning teams in the state of Florida, they move on to Team finals Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Nova Southeastern University. Congratulations!

Lincoln Park Academy was recently notified by the FHSAA that Senior Jamya Wiley is one of twelve female finalists for the Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team. Jamya will attend a banquet in Gainesville on June 11th and be awarded a $1,700.00 scholarship. The over-all winner will be announced and will receive an additional $4,600.00. Congratulations and good luck to Jamya!
Northport is so pleased to celebrate our Third Grade Perfect Attendance, B Honor Roll, A Honor Roll and Principal’s Honor Roll. Our teachers and students have worked very hard and have earned this award. Many thanks to our parents who make sure that the classwork and homework is complete, attend parent conferences and make sure that their student is following classroom and school norms. Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Taylor, Ms. D’Argenio, Ms. Cirjaru, Ms. Claflin and Mrs. Wilson are to be commended for their diligence, patience and kindness working with our children. Students in Ms. Steffens Studio Art classes have been participating in a host of exciting contests, exhibitions and juried shows this school year. Their work has been displayed at the Art Connection in Ft. Pierce, The 3rd Annual Highwaymen Heritage Trail Festival, and the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds. We were recently notified of several wins in the PSL Drop Savers Poster Contest and are awaiting word on the Doodle4Google contest and the eminent Dali Museum’s Student Surrealist Art Exhibition entries.
Under the direction of Band Director Jim Lebon, students from the Southport Middle School Band recently performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 13 Concert Music Performance Assessment, a yearly festival that is judged by well-known professionals from our state. The festival was held at Treasure Coast High School. The band prepared three pieces for stage performance: Enterprise March, Theme and Variations, and Sea Song Fantasy. On April 7th the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Drill Team competed in the State Drill Meet in Lakeland, FL at George Jenkins High School. With the hard work and diligence from the team, the Jaguars’ Drill Team ended their season on a great note.
When St. Lucie Sheriff’s Officer Wheeler was assigned to support Fairlawn Elementary School, it was apparent that a positive connection was established right away. With appreciation for the support she provides and wanting her to feel like Fairlawn was her home, teachers and students began writing letters to her and making plans to decorate her office on the school’s campus. On 04/04/18, TCHS’s Criminal Justice Department took a group of six students to the Federal Courthouse located in Fort Pierce. Judge Maynard and Judge Rosenberg put together a case about online threats made by an individual. Students were divided into three groups: prosecution, defense, and jury. All three groups worked with true professionals in the field such as lawyers, public defenders, and court staff members.
