Weight Watchers is launching a new program called Weight Watchers Free Style. This program encourages members to move for fun and will teach skills for a different mind set. St. Lucie Public Schools honored two individuals from the Transportation team at the December School Board Meeting. Venetia Brice and Giovanni Calzolano were nominated for STAR Award recognition based on their commitment to keeping children safe and going above and beyond to provide stellar service. This is a friendly reminder that Friday, December 22nd is an early release day for students. Winter Break begins on Monday, December 25th. 12 Month employees return on January 2nd; all other faculty and staff return on Friday, January 5th. Students return on Monday, January 8th. The holiday lights will shine a little brighter on the employees of St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) this season as all eligible personnel will receive a $250 bonus on December 22, 2017.  This news comes at the close of a positive meeting on Tuesday evening with the School District and its Union partners. Indian River State College is launching a new program, Project STAGE, designed with the goal of supporting students with intellectual disabilities (ID) and their families while students pursue education and gainful employment in their chosen occupation. Project STAGE, short for students transitioning to academics and gainful employment, is now accepting applications for students. Students with ID often have many resources available to them while enrolled in the K-12 system but few resources when they enter into the postsecondary environment. St. Lucie Public Schools and Indian River State College work in collaboration to provide students with opportunities to experience a college campus, speak with individuals on site, and establish robust goals for their future.  Students recently participated in a 2017 Men of Color College Tour. Many former Fort Pierce Central High School students served as mentors for the tour.  These gentlemen are pictured here with Indian River State College President Ed Massey.
