St. Lucie West K8 is proud to celebrate the incredible Ms. Lindsey Laurino as St. Lucie Public School’s 2025 Teacher of the Year! Congratulations, Ms. Laurino, and thank you for your dedication to our students every day!

On January 25, 2024, SLPS held its annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) College Fair at the Fenn Center. This fair hosted representatives from the HBCU and HSI colleges who provided program, application, and scholarship information to prospective students which included SLPS current seniors and juniors. Dan McCarty Middle School also participated. This event was a wonderful opportunity for students and SLPS thanks all participating staff and universities for a great and informative event!

Scott Nicks, 8th grade science teacher at Samuel S. Gaines Academy has been nominated as a Nearpod Educator of the Year Finalist! His daily use of Nearpod has not only made learning more engaging and accessible for his students but has also significantly boosted science testing scores across multiple schools in the district. Scott has proven that successful Nearpod implementation can lead to top results on district and state assessments. On Monday, January 15, 2024, St. Lucie Public Schools, along with SLPS Superintendent and Board Members, participated in Fort Pierce’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. The theme of this year was “Dream, Believe, Achieve” and was Grand Marshaled by Dr. Keven G. Perry and Dr. Christine Taylor. Schools honored Dr. King and his dreams of equality by creating floats that showcased his principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change.   Comcast’s “Internet Essentials” is geared to those who have at least one child that receives free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program. Other criteria include being located where Comcast offers Internet service.
