Congratulations to our Northport K-8 middle grades students who represented our community at the St. Lucie Public Schools History Fair. These students prevailed and received accolades for exemplary work in several categories. Heather Canales, Laura Guarino, and Allyson Sheets won third place in a group exhibit. Brooke Hundley and Laci Ford won first place for Group Website, and McKayla Sanon won third place for an individual website. Jamie Rosenberg won second place for Individual Website. What a stupendous morning at Northport K-8 celebrating the birthday of Dr. Seuss! Many thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters and new CEO, Stacey Watson-Mesley, SLPS Board Members Debbie Hawley and Troy Ingersoll, and SLC Councilwoman, Stephanie Morgan. Northport Fifth Graders Host ABC Channel 25 Meteorologist, Britley Ritz

Northport fifth graders were excited to top off their unit on weather with a visit to the media center from Britley Ritz, ABC Channel 25 meteorologist. The students began the program with a water cycle Flocabulary review. The Flocab was titled, “I’m water, I make the planet blue!” Britley spoke about her fear of weather as a child, when she lived through a tornado. She went on to study meteorology and weather at Ball State University where she conquered those childhood fears. Buddy Benches Arrive at Northport K-8 Playground

Part of what makes Northport K-8 community-friendly is their continued battle against bullying. At Northport K-8, students and families are educated to stand up against bullying in all forms. This year, thanks to two community business partners who help make Northport K-8 flourish, IDProducts Source and David Toth Construction, donated enough money to bring our students two “Buddy Benches.” The community cares about our children and these donations put real, first rate effort into community service and community action.  Northport K-8 is so grateful!  

Northport Promotes Dental Hygiene and Health!

Northport was so pleased to host Ary De Latorre from Dr. Cook’s Dental Office. With February being National Dental Health Month, students learned all about healthy sneezing, correct hand washing techniques, and how to brush their teeth properly. Students also learned not to share toothbrushes, how to floss, and how to eat to deter bacteria. It was a great learning experience, and we appreciate all the time spent educating our youngest students on proper teeth brushing. Thank you very much to Dr. Cook’s Dental Office!

Northport K-8 Wins Historic First Place

For the very first time in the 33-year history of Northport K-8, the school won First Place for the Educational Display at the St. Lucie County Fair! If you visit the fair, please make sure to visit the School Display Building and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award.  

Northport K-8 Honors Good Citizens

Northport is so thrilled to present our February Students of the Month. Students are selected for good citizenship, being a good friend, stopping a bully, or following the Northport K-8 Positive Behavior Supports. Students are rewarded with certificates, cookies, juice, and a celebration! A wonderful job to students and thank you to all parents and grandparents who attended the event.

The American Dream at Northport K-8

Many thanks to SLPS School Board Member, Dr. Donna Mills and her husband, Pastor Kenneth Mills. The Mills hold a very special place in the heart and soul of all that makes up Northport K-8. Thanks as well to Gertrude Walker, Supervisor of Elections for Saint Lucie County and to Debra Hall, mail in ballot supervisor. Ms. Walker’s words were meaningful and the students were enthralled. Northport K-8 Represents at Project Citizen

Excellence in education has been given a big thumbs up at Northport K-8 School. Two seventh grade teams led the school in a spectacular showing at the Project Citizen Showcase. Many thanks to Thomas McDonald and the teachers who brought out the very best in our student teams! Job well done!

The Future Looks Bright Northport K-8

Planning to build a better future! 8th grade Northstars students visited the Robotics and Photonics labs at IRSC on February 15, 2019 for some hands-on learning. Students explored the roles that lasers and robotics play in our lives as well as some possible career choices in those fields.

Jump Rope For Heart!

Northport lower school students are collecting funds and skipping rope to help save lives. Northport physical education instructors have organized the event to encourage students and families to help the American Heart Association. Education is the key to service!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss

Northport and Big Brothers Big Sisters invites parents, police officers, firefighters, veterans along with our school and business community to hop on our schedule and come on over to NP to read some Dr. Seuss books to kids in our VPK through third grade classrooms. It’s going to be a great time. Our Title I school needs YOU! It’s a BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY!  

Northport Celebrated Literacy Week Along With Schools Across Florida!

Mrs. Sharrah’s 1st graders enjoyed the last day of Literacy Week reading with flashlights and lollipops ? ? Northport celebrated the joys of literacy all week with many different activities including book chains, storybook snowmen, and buddy reading activities. The love of reading is alive and well at Northport!

Northport Media Center Delights With Valentines!

Northport kindergarten students from Mrs.Ceville’s class, Toore Chester and Abigail Reid, took the very first Valentine picture in the media center Valentine Picture Booth. The little girls were thrilled to take their first Valentine photo together. The picture booth will be open until Valentines Day for pictures with students and teachers as well as parents, grandparents and families. Simply PRECIOUS!

Northport Welcomes Families and SLPS Superintendent!

A big congratulations goes to the Northstar and Marlin teams for the second nine weeks Honor Roll celebration. There were a record number of Perfect Attendance and Principal’s Honor Roll students for the entire sixth, seventh and eighth grade teams. There was also a sterling number of B and A Honor Roll recipients on the teams. We are so proud of the record achievements of our students.
