Jaguar Battalion Holds Car Wash

On Saturday, October 10th, cadets from Port St. Lucie High School participated in a car wash fundraising event at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. The generosity of O’Reillys enabled the cadets to raise money by washing cars, all within the safety guidelines taking COVID-19 into consideration. The fundraiser was a success due to the abundance of cars the cadets were able to wash.  Everything flowed smoothly as the cadets established a system of getting cars through the washing and drying stations. Bayshore Elementary Recognizes Bus Drivers

Bayshore Elementary took the time to recognize their bus drivers with a special “drive-thru breakfast!” The school wanted to take a few minutes to show their appreciation for the drivers’ hard work and dedication keeping their Bayshore students safe. Way to go!  

St. Lucie County Retired Educators Support Reading Incentives at Fort Pierce Westwood Academy

SRE 5th Graders Examine Physical and Chemical Changes

The following pictures are from Mr Lewis’ 5th grade Science Class. They observed 10 changes together and had to decipher whether it was a physical or chemical change, then elaborate on what evidence they found that supports their reasoning. In the pictures, you can see students mixing glue and activator to make slime. Students discussed two liquids coming together to make a solid and identified it as a chemical change. PSLHS Outstanding Cadet Board

On Wednesday, October 7th, selected cadets of the Port Saint Lucie Jaguar Battalion participated in the Outstanding Cadet Board (OCB). Two cadets from each company, a Let 1 and a Let 2 or 3, competed against each other on the OCB, in which cadets are awarded points for proficiency on what they have learned in the program. Although every individual may not qualify for outstanding cadet, all participants are still awarded and recognized for their initiative and confidence. On Friday, September 25, Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard presented the colors at the first football game against John Carroll High School. With COVID-19 restrictions hindering a lot of our activities, the color guard was ecstatic to finally honor our country through a cadet led event. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Captain James Mikovsky accompanied by Cadet Captain Isaiah Hylton as State Flag Bearer, Cadet Captain Noah Cook as right Guard, and Cadet Captain Elijah Hylton as left Guard.

The 2020-2021 Comprehensive Mental Health Plan submitted by SLPS recently obtained approval from the Florida Department of Education. This plan provides a comprehensive overview of an established infrastructure designed to address the mental, social and emotional, and behavioral needs of all children. Learning Launchpad

Learning Launchpad locations are providing FREE school-day care for St. Lucie Public Schools‘ MySchool students whose families have been impacted by COVID-19. Through a partnership with St. Lucie County, the Children’s Services Council along with its network of funded afterschool program providers are offering parents a free option for their child during the school day. Families opting to participate in a Learning Launchpad location will have access to one of the many local youth development organizations where their child can participate in virtual learning outside of their home, but remain in a safe environment with trained staff to assist them. … Read More

Register for Bus Service and Find My Bus Route

St. Lucie Public Schools has an easy to use tool for parents to find bus stop locations and pick up times for their students.   Please visit the school district webpage http://www.stlucieschools.org then click on the “Find my bus Route” graphic on the upper right-hand side of the page.  This link will take parents to the Transportation website, where you can register your student for bus service and find the pick up times and locations.        

Apply Today for Meal Benefits

All students, regardless of which school they attend, must submit a new meal application for the 20/21 school year. Students will no longer be automatically approved for meals at no cost. Now is the time to apply for the 2020/2021 free and reduce meal benefit. This must be completed prior to August 24th so that an updated meal status is on file. The application can be found at https://foodservice.stlucie.k12.fl.us/. Only one meal application needs to be completed per family. Questions about completing a meal application can be emailed to mealapplication@stlucieschools.org. Don’t wait! Act now!
