The District Office Celebrated the Holidays!

The District Office celebrated the holidays!  Employees decorated their offices and hallways and dressed up during spirit week. The staff even enjoyed a holiday meal prepared by the Child Nutrition Services Department. Thank you School Board Members and Superintendent Gent for serving the holiday meal! Elks Lodge Holiday Giving

On Monday, December 14th, the Elks Lodge #1520 donated 11 pallets of toys, backpacks, clothing, personal hygiene products and food to 11 schools.  The first stop of the day was at Lakewood Park Elementary School. The School District wants to thank Lenny Smallacombe and all of the other Elks volunteers for their generosity and dedication to the boys and girls of St. Lucie Public Schools.  These gifts will certainly make the holidays a little brighter for these students.   Thank you Ft. Boys & Girls Club Opens New Site

St. Lucie County Boys & Girls can soon come to the largest Club in Florida! In partnership with Westside Church in Fort Pierce, the newest BGCSLC site will access three buildings totaling nearly 55,000 square feet and 25 acres of outdoor recreational area. PSLHS JROTC Angel Tree

Every year, the Port Saint Lucie JROTC program has the privilege to work with Guardians for New Futures and Communities Connected for Kids, to help collect toys for kids during the holiday season. This year, Port Saint Lucie High School sponsored 27 kids to ensure they have a memorable and enjoyable holiday season.  

Wheels and Motors Car Show Color Guard

On Saturday, December 5th, the Port St. Lucie HS JROTC Jaguar Battalion traveled to Keiser University to present the colors for the Wheels and Motors Car Show. The car show featured many different cars such as Corvettes and Maseratis, as well as classics such as Packards and a McLaren. Commanding the presentation of the colors was Cadet Command Sergeant Major Mayoliv Hernandez, followed by Cadet First Class Mery Fuentes as state flag bearer, Cadet First Sergeant Devin Callwood as right guard, and Cadet Second Lieutenant Catherine Cabellero as left guard. She will also share how 8th graders can apply now to enroll in one of the programs next year. School Related Employee of the Year Finalists Named

On Tuesday, December 1st, Superintendent E. City of PSL Offers Free Hotspots to MySchool Students

  The City of Port St. Lucie is helping to facilitate the best possible virtual school experience by providing 2,000 free mobile hot spots to families struggling to access the internet because of financial impediments. With six months of unlimited internet service, the City’s Neighborhood Services Department has 600 free Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 Mobile Hotspots available to Port St. Lucie students who are currently enrolled in a virtual school program as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Saturday, November 21st, 2020, the Jaguar Battalion hosted a Raider meet at Port Saint Lucie High School. Each school that participated in the raider meet participated as one whole team to represent their school in the following events: Relay Race, Tire Roll, Capture the Guide-on, Kickball, Dodgeball, and Tug of War. The cadets of Port Saint Lucie High School secured a victory in every event against the three other attending schools. Jaguar Battalion Veteran’s Day Assembly

On Wednesday, November 11th, the Port Saint Lucie Jaguar Battalion held a short voluntary assembly at Veterans Memorial Park to honor veterans who have served and continue to serve our country. Everyone was gathered at 2:00 pm as our Instructors and Battalion Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence Moleon-Mathews, briefed us on the history and importance of Veteran’s Day. Honor Guard Helps Village Green Elementary School

On Saturday, November 14th, cadets of the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion participated in an honor guard to help Village Green Elementary School maintain its garden. The school had planted a garden of many different plants and trees a few years ago, which had overgrown in various places. The cadets worked tirelessly pulling weeds and harvesting vegetables while learning about different plants in the environment.  

PSLHS Raider Meet

On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, the JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team hosted a Raider competition at Port Saint Lucie High School. Our mixed team, male team, and female team competed in each of five events: Relay Race, Fitness Challenge, Rope Bridge, Tire Flip, and a mile of Cross-Country Rescue. Each of our teams snatched a well-earned victory in every event, and every cadet at the meet showed good sportsmanship, including cadets from other schools that participated. Homecoming Game Honor Guard

On Friday, October 30, 2020, the Port St. Lucie Jaguar Battalion held its first honor guard to help with the Port St. Luce High School’s homecoming game against Martin County High School. Many cadets showed up to help work the honor guard, resulting in the parking detail working to get cars where they needed to be smoothly and proficiently. Learning Environment Changes for Second Semester

Requests to change from Traditional School to MySchool Online or from MySchool Online to Traditional School for the second semester can be made starting this Friday, November 13th through next Friday, November 20th. If you would like to change your child’s learning environment, please call the school directly. New schedules will go into effect for the second semester, which starts on January 4th, 2021. The last day to request a change for the second semester is November 20th. Any requests made after the window closes will be wait-listed pending availability.

SLPS Names Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year!

Superintendent Gent, joined by School Board Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Member Troy Ingersoll and Assistant to the Superintendent Dr. Kevin Perry, made surprise visits to two SLPS schools this morning (November 10, 2020). The first stop was at C.A. Moore Elementary where they recognized Ms. Latricia Stubbs as the 2019-2020 Assistant Principal of the Year. Ms. Stubbs is now serving as a Principal at C.A. Moore Elementary. The second stop was at Allapattah Flats K8 School where they surprised Ms. Ana Rodriguez-Oronoz as the 2019-2020 Principal of the Year for SLPS! Congratulations to the two amazing administrators!

Jaguar Battalion’s First Raider Meet

On Saturday, October 24th, 2020, Port Saint Lucie High School’s Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team participated in its first Raider competition of the season at Fort Pierce Central High School. Two separate Male Mixed Teams participated and competed in each of five events: Relay Race, Sprint/Drag/Carry, Rope Bridge, a PT Test and one mile of Cross-Country Rescue. Each Team member engaged in team-oriented events that required the Cadets to work proficiently and communicate with their teammates.
