SLPS Schools Receive Kits to Improve Needs of Students with Language Impairment

This year the Exceptional Student Education, Student Services, and Office of Teaching and Learning Departments collaborated and identified needs for students with language weaknesses. Materials were purchased through the IDEA American Recovery Funds grant to help improve language skills for students with disabilities who are identified with a Language Impairment. Each school received two kits each so that the speech-language pathologists and interventionists can work to improve the needs of students with disabilities who demonstrate a weakness in language which will, in turn, improve their listening, speaking, and reading comprehension skills. 7-Eleven Celebrates Grand Opening with Donation

To celebrate the grand opening of their newest store on Orange Avenue in Ft. Pierce, community partner 7-Eleven gifted a generous donation of $711 to C.A. Moore Elementary. In attendance was SLPS board member Debbie Hawley, who was joined by C.A. Moore principal Dr. Thelma Jackson and assistant principals Alisha Kennedy and Makeda Brome. Thank you to 7-Eleven for their support of our schools!

Students Decorate the District Office to Celebrate “Arts in Our Schools Month”

March is “Arts in Our Schools Month”, an annual celebration that showcases the accomplishments of students in dance, music, theater, and the visual arts nationwide. St. Lucie Public School students showcased their own artistic accomplishments by displaying their artworks in the SLPS District Office! SLPS staff was treated to a wide range of different artistic mediums submitted from various elementary, middle, and high schools in the district. Thank you to all schools and students for their wonderful work!

Appreciation Night at Clover Park

On Thursday, April 14th, fans who bring two nonperishable food items will receive a free ticket to the St. Lucie Mets game that night. Classroom Library Makeover Winners

IRSC Announces Free Tuition for St. Lucie County Students

On Thursday, March 3rd, Fort Pierce Central High School, along with Superintendent E. Wayne Gent, hosted IRSC, to announce the IRSC Promise Program. Now every 2022 graduate of a public or public charter high school in Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties can earn an IRSC Associate Degree at no tuition cost! SLPS at the St. Lucie County Fair

Classroom Library Launch and Makeover Contest

In partnership with Scholastic Education, SLPS is rolling out classroom libraries in all K-5 classrooms across the district. Each classroom library has a collection of over 250 books to engage students in fiction and non-fiction literature. For two new teachers at Windmill Point Elementary, Scholastic Education launched the Classroom Library Makeover Contest by making over these teachers’ classroom libraries.
