The 2022-2023 SLPS College Fair has been rescheduled! Join St. Lucie Public Schools on Thursday, November 3rd, for the annual college fair from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Havert L. Fenn Center. Over 50 college and university representatives will be there to meet with prospective students. You will also be able to participate in financial aid sessions to get valuable information about paying for college. SLPS students in grades 9 through 12 are encouraged to attend. 9/13 Board Meeting Flag Folding Ceremony

During the September 13th board meeting, the Treasure Coast High School JROTC performed a flag folding ceremony for those in attendance. Palm Pointe Band Hosts Master Percussion Teacher

This past week the band at Palm Pointe hosted Mr. Andrew Kruspe, a percussion specialist from Alabama, for a special percussion only clinic. The students were able to gain help in stick technique, counting, and performance fundamentals. Mr. Kruspe passed out materials and instructed the students to help them gain a better understanding of the percussion section as musicians.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Day

Saturday, August 20th, SLPS school psychologists and school counselors provided Youth Mental Health First Aid training for the city of Ft. Pierce Firehawks football and cheerleading coaches who coach youth ages 5-14. The purpose of the training was to provide the volunteers with tools and resources to support students that may be experiencing mental health challenges. The feedback received from the participants was very positive. 2022 SLW Centennial graduate Olivia Kaes was honored Saturday by ESPN106.3 at Keiser University as part of their annual Top63 event. This was the first ever year in which they honored flag football players as part of their special night highlighting athletes from Boca Raton to Vero Beach. Olivia, who is Centennial’s all-time leader in attempts, completions, passing yardage, and passing TDs, was recognized as the #8 overall player in the region. SLPS Launches Summer Feeding Program

Starting June 13th, SLPS is hosting a Summer Feeding Program, offering FREE food for children and teens, ages 2-18. All schools in St. Lucie County are open feeding sites for the community and students can go to any school for meals. Students that are not enrolled for summer school or camp must sign-in at the front office prior to receiving a meal. Free Internet for Low-Income Families

The Federal Communications Commission recently announced that 20 of the nation’s internet providers have committed to lowering costs for low-income households, a step that will essentially provide free high-speed internet for those participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program that helps many low-income households pay for broadband service and internet connected devices. CareerSource Research Coast Extends Deadline for Summer of Success

PORT ST. Fort Pierce Central Hosts Education Foundation Annual Scholarship Ceremony

Principal Monarae Miller-Buchanan and Assistant Principal Ayesia Boria were the Masters of Ceremony for the 2022 Annual Scholarship Ceremony sponsored by the Education Foundation. The Education Foundation awarded 60 scholarships funded by 20 donors totaling $58,000.
