FPC Hosts CTE Fair for 9th-Grade Students

The purpose of the event was to educate the 9th-grade class about the CTE programs offered at FPC before 9th-grade students sign up for 10th-grade classes. The goal was to place students in the right programs to flourish in completing an academy while achieving the highest level of industry certifications. Each program had a table with all kinds of information about their CTE course and what it is all about. FPC Shines at STEM Fair

A monumental congratulations to our FPC STEM Fair Students. Students did a phenomenal job presenting their projects on Friday, February 11th at the District STEM Fair. Ms. Amanda Buck, a proud Cobra science teacher, reports FPC presenting among the best projects at the STEM Fair! With such huge success, Ms. Buck anticipates a few FPC students competing at the state level, with one student perhaps even going all the way to compete internationally. Go Cobras! FPC & IRSC Career & College Fair

Fort Pierce Central High School students got immersed in the possibilities for a future of their choosing! IRSC and numerous community partners came out to give students a first-hand view of trades, careers, and college options. Students met with experts in their respective areas, speaking with students in real-world terms, giving a true glimpse of life after high school. FPC Wrestlers- Champions at all Levels

This year, FHSAA made women’s high school wrestling an official sport throughout the state of Florida. Formerly, female athletes could compete in the FHSAA men’s division; however, female athletes would compete in club-organized events such as “women’s state championship” which was unregulated by FHSAA. FPC student Mia Weisbrod (soph.) competed in the men’s division both last season and this regular season at 106lbs. However, now that the postseason has begun, she entered into the women’s State Championship series which starts at the district level. On February 9, Fort Pierce Central celebrated the History Day schoolwide winners and district nominees at its annual History Day Luncheon. The theme this year was Debate and Diplomacy: Success, Failures, and Consequences. The students enjoyed the very best of what the culinary department had to offer, with a catered menu and elegant ambiance organized by the Cobra Cafe, under the guidance of Chef Strell. 3rd Annual Kim Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-Up

On Sunday, February 6th from 1:00-3:00 pm, the 3rd Annual Kim Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-up at Pepper Park Beach took place. This is was to honor beloved Ft. Pierce Central High School Marine Biology Teacher Kimberly Pearson. As a marine science teacher, Ms. Pearson loved the ocean and was concerned about the human toll on ocean sustainability. This beach clean-up represents her passion in life, serving students and caretaking for the ocean. FPC AP Art Students Sweep Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!

This year Ft. Pierce Central High School students in Mrs. Blackmon’s A.P. and Digital Art classes entered artwork in several categories in the prestigious Scholastic Art Award’s competition in December and the winners were announced February 28. FPC students entered artwork in the categories of Digital Art, Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Photography, Jewelry, and Sculpture. FPC Students Perform with 43rd Annual Four County Honor Band

FPC has one proud band director! Mr. Daniels would like to recognize the seven FPC students selected to perform this past weekend in the 43rd annual Four County Honor Band. This prestigious band handpicks exceptional musicians and band students across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St Lucie County. The group represented Fort Pierce Central with the highest level of musicianship, as many of our selected students were featured soloists, playing at a high degree of an advanced band repertoire. A Central Culinary Christmas Celebration!

On Wednesday, December 15th, the Fort Pierce Central High School Culinary Department provided staff with a four-star dining experience. This year’s holiday banquet was a warm and innovative celebration in the Cobra Café. As staff walked through the doors of the café, the sound of Bing Crosby singing Christmas carols greeted our ears. FPC Hosts Door Decorating Contest!

Student Government Association (SGA) of Fort Pierce Central High School hosted a staff door decorating contest to spread holiday cheer! The Santa on the left is Mr. Coughlin’s creation from room 1-123. The snow friend on the right is Mrs. Baechle’s from room 1-122. FPC Key Club has Breakfast with Santa!

Breakfast, Volunteering, Crafts, and Karaoke! FPC Key Club Does It All!   Breakfast with Santa was organized by New Horizons and the wife of Fort Pierce Central High School teacher and Coach Jeff Rymer. Participants were asked to donate unwrapped gifts, adults were charged $5, and children were free. FPC Key Club helped set up tables for kid’s cookie decorating, ornament making, and Christmas card making.  As children had their photos taken with Santa, FPC Key Club members would take the developed photo to the families. FPC Spreads Joy at the Holiday Parade!

Fort Pierce Central came out to the Annual Christmas Parade in Fort Pierce to share joy and cheer! FPC Marching Cobra Band and Key Club showed Fort Pierce that the new Christmas colors are Purple and Gold!  Over 100 Key Club members participated! FPC Creative Writing Club: A New Chapter

A New Year, A New Cobra Way Fort Pierce Central High School’s Creative Writing Club (CWC) was started in 2014 by Kelly Addams, a former FPC student and teacher. CWC was created to give students a place to share their writing. Mrs. McPhee has historically taught the only Creative Writing course on campus, so in 2015 Ms. Addams and a student in that class had an idea. They approached Mrs. McPhee about becoming involved with Florida’s Louder Than a Bomb Competition and their first Spoken Word Poetry Slam. Our Community’s Future is Rich through Cooking, Diversity, & Inclusion. In March of this year, students in Mrs. Swertfager’s Culinary Arts 1 class at Fort Pierce Central High School, read a brochure called “Roots to Recipes” to celebrate Women in History month. The brochure was given to Mrs. Swertfager by Doris Tillman, the manager of Fort Pierce Main Street. Stories in the brochure highlight immigrant women who moved to Seattle and opened businesses centered around culinary arts. FPC Cobra Chronicles In the midst of a complicating and trying year, Fort Pierce Central students wanted to share the lesser heard stories in Cobra Nation and the community and a school newspaper was the answer. On Wednesday, Oct 20th, the sun rose over the east coast, illuminating Cobra Nation in a soft and bright glow. That glow was not just from the sun. The warm colors came on National Unity Day.
