Pink, Poised, and Legally Blonde

For its spring performance, Fort Pierce Central High School drama department proudly presented Harvard bound Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical. Ms. Browning and her students make theater more than a class, performing arts credit, or scheduled elective. Students learn all aspects of stage performance, technical, and backstage craft. The Arts draw students into new opportunities to build skills and interests while revealing personal talents. The Arts have a place for everyone. FPC is proud to have talented artists on every stage, at every level pursuing their performance dreams. Backstage the fun was perfectly balanced with poise and purpose!

Once a Cobra, Always a Cobra Retirement in any typical circumstance can be a mixture of joy and bittersweetness. True to Cobra style, parades celebrating Ms. Loretta Rolle and Mr. Roszon Lawrence celebrated from every corner of Cobra nation’s courtyard. Students, staff, and our entire Cobra community could be heard cheering amongst the marching Cobras percussionists from near to far. FPC Health Sciences & Cox Science Center

Health Sciences teacher Mrs. Barbara Charles and the FPC Medical Academy students traveled to the Cox Science Center in West Palm Beach for a day of interactive learning. Forty-two students got a hands-on learning experience by engaging in a Brain in Action lab and performing pig dissections. This field trip was the first of its kind for FPC’s Medical Academy and Mrs. Charles hopes to create a long-lasting partnership with the Cox Science Center for many future collaborations.  

FPC Flag Football

District Champs! The FPC 2022 Flag Football team earned their name in legacy lights! The dream team is comprised of 9th-12th grade friends, sisters, and teammates. From February through April players condition, practice, and put in the effort for greatness. Junior Alyssa Llanos has been playing flag football since middle school and shares that the team’s victory is one shared by all. Fort Pierce Central students accepted awards and honors at the annual Black History Creative Arts and Essay Contest from Florida’s Southern District Court. Winners include Gabriela Menjivar $300- 1st prize and Tyler Corey $150- 2nd prize. Mrs. Denise Peschio is very proud of our Cobras!  

FPC National History Day Fair Winners

Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas Fort Pierce Central High students competed in the annual District History Fair. Sponsor and social studies chairperson Mrs. Sharon Ortiz has been leading students in this competition for 13 years. “Every year I look forward to seeing students make deep, personal connections to the history fair topic,” shares Mrs. Ortiz.  This year is no exception. Senior Fest at Fort Pierce Central is more than a tradition, it is a rite of passage, a time-stand-still moment, and a freeing time to just be a Cobra with your fellow seniors! FPC’s Makaria Sandlin Wins at the State Debate Championship

Makaria Sandlin brought home the 2nd place trophy in Saturday’s Florida Civics and Debate Initiative State Championship in Original Oratory. More than 50 middle and high schools competed in Orlando for this year’s State competition. With Cobra pride, the Fort Pierce Central family joins the Speech and Debate Sponsor, Mrs. Lisa Embry, in congratulating Makaria!    

Wax Museum at FPC

Fort Pierce Central High School concluded Black History Month with a first-ever interactive wax museum. Students, parents, and staff interacted with students from Mrs. Embrey’s Speech and Debate Club, Mrs. Nance, and Ms. Kelly. The wax exhibitors portrayed famous African American Freedom Figures, Abraham Lincoln, Chadwick Boseman, and many more. Exhibits “came to life” with a short presentation informing the audience about the person along with their achievements and interesting life events. The audience enjoyed the event and the presenters enjoyed showing their talents.    

FPC Young Floridian Candidates

Fort Pierce Central High School has a long and rich tradition of participating in the Young Floridian Scholarship program. This year is no exception. Brave Cobra students successfully submitted applications and mastered their individual interviews with three judges! Central’s Makaria Sandlin is Ready for National Debate Competition!

Fort Pierce Central’s very own Makaria Sandlin has qualified to compete at the NSDA (National Speech and Debate Association) National Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, June 11-16, 2023. As a junior, this is Makaria’s first year with the speech and debate team! Not only will she be competing for a National Title, but she will also have the chance to earn scholarships! FPC Wins with Scholastic Arts & Writing Competition!

FPC 3D Arts 2023 marks the 100-Year Anniversary of Scholastic’s Art & Writing Competition. This prestigious contest has awarded artists and writers including Andy Warhol, Slyvia Plath, Cy Twombly, Ezra Jack Keats, Joyce Carol Coates, Stephen King, Donald Lipski, and Amanda Gorman. Congratulations to all the FPC Ceramics III and AP 3D students for their first-time participation. Senior Vanessa Niederhofer won a Silver Key award for her Ceramic Dragon Bowl.  Junior Mariah Roman won Honorable Mention for the Heirloom Recipe Box. Junior Chris Flacon-Paulin won Honorable Mention for the mixed-media Built-In artwork (image not shown).

4th Annual Kimberly Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-Up

Fort Pierce Central High School students along with students and employees from throughout the district met on another postcard-perfect morning at Pepper Park on Saturday, February 25th. This morning was going to be more than a beautiful beach day, it was the 4th Annual Kimberly Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-Up. FPC Volunteers at the Oxbow Eco Center

On a brisk Saturday December morning, the Fort Pierce Central High School National Honor Society (NHS) & FPC Gardening Club teamed up to support a natural gem! The Oxbow Eco Center is St. Lucie County’s sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and pet walks on the trails. From archery classes to science lessons and nature-based art-making, the Oxbow is a true treasure. Teen volunteers from both clubs cleared weeds, debris, and resurfaced walking trails with pine needle beds. Students also worked on preparing seedlings for future planting. Ms. Emily Royo’s Drawing and Painting II students participated in the 3rd annual Fort Pierce Art Club’s Magnificent Mini Masterpieces Art Contest & Show. The contest was expanded to Fort Pierce Central and Westwood High Schools this year.
