Once a Cobra, Always a Cobra

Retirement in any typical circumstance can be a mixture of joy and bittersweetness. True to Cobra style, parades celebrating Ms. Loretta Rolle and Mr. Roszon Lawrence celebrated from every corner of Cobra nation’s courtyard. Students, staff, and our entire Cobra community could be heard cheering amongst the marching Cobras percussionists from near to far. Each honoree had their own parade decked out in our proudest Purple and Gold.

For Ms. Loretta Rolle, a Cobra alum and 35-year veteran custodian, the school motto “Once a Cobra Always a Cobra” is more than a catch phrase or surface advertisement. Ms. Loretta, as she is called, has exemplified Cobra Pride each and every day as a part of Cobra nation. The smile seen on her face is a sincere reflection of her dedication to everyone who steps onto campus. From the smallest of inconveniences to the mightiest of tasks, Ms. Loretta was fully present, prepared, and likely already working to solve the problem! Senior Samantha Vonderhaar fondly recounts talking with Ms. Loretta while helping in the cafeteria after lunch. The two fast friends even exchanged Christmas gifts. Spending these brief moments meant so much to both Sam and Ms. Loretta. Cobra bonds are forever. So, after 35 years, to Ms. Loretta we say thank you for being Cobra.

Take a moment to consider the most thoughtful, warm smiled, and genuine person on your campus. For many members of Cobra Nation, that person would be Mr. Lawrence. Love and devotion are sewn into the fabric of Mr. Lawrence, through and through. An ear to listen, a helpful hand, and a charming sense of humor, Mr. Lawrence made FPC a home for the entire Cobra family. Thank you, Mr. Lawrence, for all the times you went above and beyond, did more than was asked, and saw what we needed before we did. You represent the best of Cobra nation and our community.
