On March 16th, 2016, the Nursing Assistant students at St. Lucie West Centennial High School held their annual health fair.
The purpose of the Health Fair is to invite community partners who have health topics of interest to the teen population onto campus to present that information. They provided information for the teens on different ways for them to become a better and healthy person.
The presenters included: Project X Fitness, Parent Academy of SLC, Parent Teen Community Connection, Sexual Assault Assistance Program, Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), Teen Choices, Protect the Heart, the Jessica Clinton MVP foundation, 211 Teens, and Keiser University. Keiser University had many of their educational programs attend and present a wide variety of topics for the students.
Each student was handed a passport with the names of the programs present as they entered the gym. The purpose of the passport was to encourage the student to go around to each program and get their information on health. At each exhibit, the community partners would stamp the student’s passport.
The Nursing Assistant students did an amazing job planning and organizing the event which was attended by classrooms of students and their teachers throughout the day. They definitely demonstrated their leadership skills and their teamwork effort by communicating with walkie-talkies to smooth out any problems or to simply help other students find the program that they had an interest in. The class would kindly like to thank Keiser University for sponsoring their event and everyone who participated in it.
