St. Lucie Public Schools congratulates its graduating seniors! Wonderful job to the students, teachers, support staff and parents who have encouraged, prodded and demonstrated kindergartners into a successful end of their first year of school. The songs and showmanship were exemplary and the kindergartners were on their very best behavior when receiving their diplomas and accolades from the hundreds of parents waiting in anticipation for their very own pride and joy to cross the stage. Northport Celebrates Incoming Sixth Graders With Style!

Northport fifth grade graduation was a first-rate event! Just when you think you can’t celebrate one more thing, those fifth graders go and make the tears come to your eyes. The NP gymnasium was packed with parents, grandparents and families that truly care about the success and achievement of their children. Students were honored for perfect attendance and for highest achievement in resource, math, reading and science. Students then performed a musical number in unison facing their parents. On Saturday May 19th, over 100 parents and their Young Authors gathered to celebrate literacy and the art of writing! The St. Lucie County Reading Council sponsors the celebration annually held at Oak Hammock School. This year over 20 of our schools participated and their representatives were treated to a new book, a guest author presentation by Dr. Lois McGuire who wrote, “Don’t Be That Kid at School” and a special ticket for RUSH, Jenson Beach. Cobra CERT Receives Donation From Sheriff

Delegates from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office met with the Cobra CERT, or the Cobra Community Emergency Response Team, and provided a donation for $1,000.00 to support the group’s continued efforts. A special thank you is extended to the Sheriff and his officers for their support. Cobra CERT is an extracurricular program available to students at Fort Pierce Central High School. Ready to Work

Twenty students from SLPS attended the “Ready to Work” Manufacturing Boot Camp Program Acceptance Information Session.  Based on recommendations by high school guidance counselors, students attended to learn more about this opportunity to participate in a one week manufacturing boot camp organized by the Economic Development Council (EDC) post-graduation. Students will have an experienced-packed week visiting local manufacturers and attending training sessions that will include: soft skills, finances, and resume writing. Northport Students Celebrate Great Writing!

Just when we think our students couldn’t make us any prouder, our writers do their “Run for the Roses!” This morning, Kolbee Cicio, Allyson Sheets, Mercella Stephens, Sydnee Coryn, Emmanuel Serpas Funes, Emmalyne Lewiston and Ariana Aponte Quiles proved that Northport students love writing and they are very good at their craft. Celebrating Noble Virtues with Southport ESOL Students

State Representative Larry Lee Jr., of the Florida House of Representatives, challenged Southport Middle School ESOL students to continue working hard in school.
