Job Fair – December 1st

We’re growing our team —  spread the word!  St. Lucie Public Schools will host a job fair for teachers and paraprofessionals on December 1st in the gymnasium of St. Lucie West K-8 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. State of Jobs Big Draw for Students

On October 25, 2018, roughly 280 SLPS seniors from across the entire district attended State of the Jobs conference (SOJC). Students learned about various aspects of Skilled Trades, Manufacturing and Healthcare. The three career fields were identified in the Skills Gap Analysis as critical areas in need of workers. Students learned about each career path and were provided first-hand information within each pathway. Students engaged with vendors on career opportunities and learned about post-secondary education options. Compensation Agreement Reached

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL — It is no secret that the Florida Legislature did not provide adequate funding this year for Florida’s public schools. The St. Lucie CTA/CU and the District have worked together to get the most out of exhausted funding options stretched thin by legislative shortfalls and unfunded mandates. Both parties agree that educator salaries fall short of where we’d like them to be and are committed to finding ways to increase compensation for all employees. LPA Band Student Cameron Slack to All-State

Lincoln Park Academy senior band student Cameron Slack has been selected to perform in the Florida Music Education Association All-State Symphony Orchestra. He will be performing at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa on Saturday, January 12th. Congratulations!  

SLWK-8 Celebrates Perfect FSA Scores with Limo Lunch

Congratulations to the following students who earned a perfect score on FSA last year and were treated to a limo ride to lunch on November 5th: 4th grader, Maria Nolasco 8th grader, Roseanne Rodriguez 8th grader, Ryan Rodriguez The students were accompanied by their parents and the SLWK-8 Administration for this special lunch!

Northport Celebration For School Improvement Goal!

This year, as part of our Northport School Improvement Plan, one of our important goals is to raise attendance rates. We are determined to get our students into school so that our achievement levels will rise. We celebrated with a popcorn and movie party today with parties for grades 3 through 8 for all students who earned Perfect Attendance for the first quarter. Mariposa Elementary’s Brandon Roth Receives the Citizen Hero Award

Mariposa Elementary’s Fifth Grader, Brandon Roth, took action to help another during difficult times, and he was recognized for his actions by the St. Lucie County Fire District with a Citizen Hero Award. Brandon Roth was riding his hoverboard to a friend’s home in Port St. Lucie to play when he noticed a woman was on the ground lying unconscious by her front door.  He investigated and saw that she was in real trouble.  He flagged down a passing car and told them what he saw and asked them to call 911.  They did and Brandon waited by the woman until … Read More

Northport and FPC Collaborate in the Kitchen!

Northport’s 8th grade culinary students visited the advanced culinary classes at Fort Pierce Central High School. Central’s Chef Jesse Strell, in coordination with Ms. Rachel Savela, brought their students together to mentor and learn together. Northport students learned how to make a roux and many knife skills including the Rondelle cut.
