Wounded Warrior Surf Day

The Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC cadets were excited to present the colors and be part of the Wounded Warrior Surf Day.  Cadet Staff Sergeant Marco Nader led the Color Guard presenting the national flag, Cadet Captain Travis Cetin presented the state flag, and standing as the guards were Cadet Staff Sergeant Malver Casanas and Cadet Major Kaylee Zuidema.  The Color Guard marched behind the bag pipe player leading the warriors and their families to the event.  The volunteers and participants were grateful for the cadets and the Color Guard. Morningside Elementary’s grandparents were invited to have lunch with their grandchildren to celebrate Grandparents Day.  Grandparents and family members filled the stage and front of the cafeteria throughout the last three days to celebrate the integral part that family has as part of the team that makes students well-rounded and successful.

Volunteers Welcome

St. Lucie Soars is an early literacy effort launched by St. Lucie Public Schools that includes a community initiative in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters.  A component of the program involves the recruitment of volunteers/mentors to support reading efforts in kindergarten through grade three. Attendance Matters

  September is Attendance Awareness Month. Improving attendance and reducing chronic absence is not rocket science, but it does take commitment, collaboration and tailored approaches to the particular strengths and challenges of each school or community. Across the nation, schools, communities and advocates have successfully taken steps to ensure children are attending school more regularly. Help to ensure our children are in school each day.    

Butterfly Garden at SLE

St. Lucie County Retired Educators visited St. Lucie Elementary.  The Retired Educators of St. Lucie County donated all items needed to start a butterfly garden on campus to the classes of Ms. Kurtti and Ms. Lewis. Principal Woulard along with the entire staff and student body of St. Lucie Elementary are thankful for the beautiful addition to their campus.

Southport’s Breakfast for Bus Drivers

Southport Middle School celebrated our bus drivers who continually transport our students everyday with a breakfast sponsored by PBS. Our Principal, Ms. Telese, Dean Palau, Dean Parks, Maryann Walser, and Ms. Laye along with Officer Green were in attendance to show support to our bus drivers. Our students are also appreciative of each and every bus driver at our school, so we give you a huge THANK YOU from our students to our bus drivers who continually get our Southport students to and from school everyday safely! Thanks for coming out for our PBS Breakfast! We appreciate you!
