Healthy Schools, in cooperation with St. Lucie Public Schools and the Florida Department of Health in St. Lucie County, are excited to kick off the “Teach Flu A Lesson” program in 2016!
Every year thousands of children miss valuable time in the classroom because of the dreaded flu. If that isn’t bad enough they carry it home with them, infecting loved ones, and causing them to miss work and school. Based on data from other counties in Florida, as well as in other states, we know the in-school flu vaccination program works and STOPS the flu in its tracks. So please join us in encouraging all of our children to be properly vaccinated and help “Teach Flu a Lesson” in 2016!
As we move into the 2016-2017 Flu Season, there are changes to the flu vaccine that will be implemented. For this coming Flu Season the only available vaccine to fight against the flu will be a vaccine done by injection as recommended by the CDC and ACIP. Healthy Schools’ trained and skilled staff of licensed nurses will be providing this pediatrician recommended flu vaccine at your child’s school this coming fall. We at Healthy Schools are excited to provide your students with another Healthy Flu Season. With your continued support, we can “Teach Flu A Lesson!”
Healthy Schools will be providing injectable flu vaccinations October 3rd through October 6th in all St. Lucie Public Schools. Please check the district website for specific dates and times for your child’s school scheduled clinic. Your child will be bringing home a letter and form to complete. THIS FORM MUST BE RETURNED REGARDLESS OF PARTICIPATION! The process is very simple! All you have to do is fill out and sign the consent form. You can also access a consent form and our Notice of Privacy Practices on our website www.healthyschoolsllc.com . A copy of this notice will be included in the materials given to your student at the time of the administration of the vaccine.
Once you have filled out and signed the consent form, please have your student return it to his or her school. Once your student is vaccinated, proper paper work will be sent home for your records. There is no out-of-pocket expense for you, and your student will be better protected against the flu this flu season!
