Fairlawn Elementary are Read to Succeed Champions

Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince was joined by Big Apple Owner Scott Vanduzer, Representative Dana Trabulsy, and Sean Boyle, CEO of the Children’s Services Council of SLC to announce Fairlawn Elementary as the Big Apple Read to Succeed Program CHAMPIONS. They will receive $10,000 to support student achievement along with a school-wide celebration!

FPC Thespians Take Center Stage in Tampa

The FPC Competitive Theatre students traveled to the Florida State Thespian Festival held in Tampa. They competed against 300+ high schools from around the state, participated in workshops with Broadway and Theatre Professionals, and watched other high school performances in evenings. Of the four pieces performed by Cobra students, two received “Straight Superior” ratings, and the other two “Overall Excellent” ratings. We are so proud of our Thespian Cobras and Ms. Tiffany Gardner!

FPC Honored with Overall Best for MLK Parade

Congratulations to the Fort Pierce Central High School MLK Parade Float team who were honored with a trophy at the school board meeting for Overall Best! The hard work of Cobra Nation showed through the efforts of the float team, administration, club participation, athletics, and of course so many students and families! Colorful Fun at Village Green

Celebrating the inventor of the Crayola crayon! Ms. Sievers, VGESS Media Specialist, read this book to students. The students were inspired by the story of Edwin Binney, the inventor of the Crayola crayon, and his love for art and color. They learned about the history of how crayons were created and how they have become a staple in art and creativity. As they colored their marine life masterpieces, the students were filled with excitement and joy. FPC’s Jazz Band Earned Straight Superiors

Fort Pierce Central’s Cobra Jazz Band participated in the State Jazz Music Performance Assessment in DeLand. The Jazz Band received straight “superior” ratings! This is the highest possible rating a jazz band can receive within the state of Florida. This honor was especially significant as it was the first time Fort Pierce Central’s jazz program has earned a state superior rating in over 25 years! Cobra Nation is overjoyed with pride for all our performers and Mr. Daniels for their hard work, musicianship, and success!! Go Cobras!

Jaguar Battalion 30th Annual Award Ceremony

On Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion held its 30th Annual Award Ceremony. The purpose of this award ceremony was to award deserving Cadets for their service, loyalty, personal appearance, character, and knowledge of JROTC, as well as their outstanding achievements in and outside the program. Select Cadets were recognized by different Veteran organizations such as MOAA, Vietnam Veterans of America, Korean War Veterans, etc… The ceremony was a success as we were able to recognize over 100+ cadets for their outstanding achievements.

Cobra Choirs Earn Superior Ratings

Cobra Nation beams with pride for our choirs and their director Mr. Eric Martinez! At this year’s District Music Performance Assessment or MPA, both Fort Pierce Central groups got straight “superiors” ratings! Now, the choirs are state-bound to continue their great performance work. Congratulations to all of our multi-talented performers and Mr. Martinez!

CTE Student Entrepreneurship Showcase

Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from middle and high schools across St. Lucie Public Schools participated in the CTE Student Showcase. The Showcase was all about entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurial mindset, and the resilience needed to be an entrepreneur.  The CTE classroom is a perfect place for teaching these skills since CTE teachers already cover many lessons and projects in entrepreneurship. Pen Pals at Morningside

Mrs. William’s 5th-grade class at Morningside Elementary is writing to their pen pals! A student’s grandmother is a teacher in another county, and she teaches a younger grade. Through this experience, students are learning about someone who may be different than them but finding ways to share commonality through likes, dislikes, dreams, and fears. Today, students are reading their first letter and writing back. Pretty cool!

SLWCHS Boys’ Soccer Coach named TCPalm’s Coach of the Year

Centennial is very proud of our Head Boys’ Soccer Coach and PE teacher, Doug Black, for being named TCPalm’s Coach of the Year! TCPalm shared, “Faced with tragedy at the beginning of the season and hit with the impending loss of a loved one toward the end, Black navigated the Eagles through severe adversity en route to their third district title in four years. Jaguar Battalion Conducts Last Car Wash of the Year

On Saturday, March 30th, 2024, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their last car wash of the school year at O’Reilly’s located off US-1. Cadets were placed in different teams such as the wash team, dry team, and sign holding teams. It was a great success and a good way for our first-year Cadets to see how we give back to our community.

Important Information about the Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a solar eclipse viewable locally from approximately 1:45 pm to 4:15 pm. In our area, approximately 50% of the sun will be blocked. The day of the eclipse is a great learning opportunity for students and adults, but it can be dangerous to the eyes if proper care is not taken.  Therefore, we must establish precautions for the safety and protection of students and employees. St. Lucie West K8 Annual Spring Carnival

Shark Nation kicked off spring with our annual Carnival! Student Council did an extraordinary job planning this incredible event! Clubs and grade levels set up fantastic booths with games, raffles, food, and fun. The foam party, bounce houses, dunk tank, and petting zoo were a hit!
