Bayshore Elementary Community Night a huge success

Bayshore Elementary School held its first Community Resource Night.  The mission of Community Resource Night was to provide families with access to the many services and resources that St. Lucie County has to offer.  Pictured is Mindi Fetterman from the Roundtable of St. Lucie County talking to students and families about Kids at Hope.

Bayshore Elementary School held its third Annual Community Night recently, bringing together community groups, school staff, and families to learn about available resources. Families received valuable information from many community groups, such as Girl Scouts, Kids at Hope, Port St. Lucie Police Department, St. Lucie County Health Department, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Huntington Learning Center, and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. Pictured, from left, are Principal Lori Anne Reid, Port St. Lucie Mayor JoAnn Faiella, Assistant Principal Edwin Munoz and Janelle Palmer from Nancy Fallon’s second grade class.

Bayshore Elementary Coming Together for Unity Day

Some of our Bayshore Elementary Jaguars wore orange to represent Unity Day! By wearing orange, our students and staff showed a collective visual statement that bullying is not OK, and that everyone deserves to feel safe and included. The vibrant color creates an impactful and powerful statement that can be seen across schools and communities, helping to raise awareness. Bayshore Elementary Celebrates Students

Bayshore 5th graders, along with their families, celebrated their division fact fluency! Students earned pieces of an ice cream sundae as they worked their way up the “fact ladder” during weekly timed quizzes. Once they earned enough sundae pieces, they earned an invitation to the party! We loved celebrating their hard work. Congratulations to those that earned this delicious experience!    

Bayshore Elementary celebrates literacy week

Bayshore Elementary students and staff participated in Celebrate Literacy Week. Students and staff members learned about vocabulary words and story book characters, then demonstrated their knowledge by participating in a literacy parade. First grade teachers provided students with visual representations of vocabulary words starting with the prefix mis. Bayshore Elementary Celebrates Decades Week with Style

Bayshore Elementary recently celebrated Decades Week, a fun-filled fundraiser organized by the attendance committee! Each day of the week was dedicated to a different decade, bringing history to life through fashion. On Tuesday, students and staff embraced the groovy vibes of the 1960s. Wednesday saw everyone rocking the disco era of the 1970s. Thursday brought out the bold and colorful styles of the 1980s, and Friday wrapped up the week with the cool, grunge looks of the 1990s. Bayshore Elementary Celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month

Throughout the month, our dedicated teachers brought history and culture to life by highlighting the contributions of Hispanic Americans in engaging and meaningful ways. Our ESOL paraprofessional enriched our school community by teaching us Spanish phrases during announcements—fostering language appreciation and cultural connection across campus. We also honored every staff member, recognizing their unique backgrounds and celebrating the diversity that makes Bayshore shine. Bayshore Elementary’s school counselors recently hosted a vibrant Día de los Muertos celebration for our dedicated teachers. Bayshore Elementary at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

Bayshore Elementary recently took part in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, and it was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Students, teachers, and administrators all came together to honor Dr. King’s legacy and celebrate the values of equality, unity, and community. Bayshore Elementary and N.E.H.S.

Bayshore Elementary students  in the National Elementary Honor Society (N.E.H.S) clean up their school. For part of the N.E.H.S. community service project, students in fourth and fifth grade at Bayshore Elementary developed and implemented a plan to clean up their school. Bayshore Elementary 5th Graders Develop a Love for Science

Students in Mrs. Logue’s 5th grade science class at Bayshore Elementary performed their first science experiment. Students were shown five different liquids and asked what would happen if they were each poured into the same cup one at a time. Students completed three different types of investigations (poll, internet research, and an experiment) and learned that performing an experiment was the most precise way to answer the inquiry question. Bayshore Elementary 5th Graders Demonstrate Separation of Mixtures

Mrs. Logue’s 5th grade students made mixtures and then practiced using different tools to separate them by their properties. First, they combined gravel and sand and then separated it by particle size using a sieve. Then, students mixed iron filings into the sand and discussed how to separate them. They decided on using a magnet to get the iron out of the sand. Finally, they mixed salt into the sand and discovered that the only way to separate the salt out was with the property of solubility. Bayshore Elementary 5th Grade Scientists

Scientists use models to help them visualize things that are difficult to see and understand. Our 5th graders made models of the Respiratory system, Muscular/ skeletal system, and digestive system and dissected a flower to help further their knowledge of living things.

Bayshore Elementary 5th Grade Hamburger Wars

Our 5th graders started and completed a Hamburger War. They used a Hamburger War template to put their writing skills to the test. The 3 class periods on Mrs. Enoch’s side battled the 3 class periods on Mrs. Pank’s side. They created an essay as a class based on unique prompts assigned to each class period. As a class they planned, wrote, color-coded, and revised their essay. Students followed Top Score writing guidelines to ensure that they had written an exceptional expository non-text-based essay. Bayshore Donates to Toys for Tots

Bayshore Elementary School students and staff members participated in a toy drive for Toys for Tots sponsored by the United States Marine Corps.  Second Grade Teacher Nancy Fallon coordinated the event and was excited to have Bayshore Elementary as a designated drop-off location.  All donated toys will go to local families in need.  Thank you for to our students and staff for your donations.  Pictured, from left to right: Mrs. Silas (Bayshore Assistant Principal), Mrs. Reid (Bayshore Principal) and Mrs. Fallon.  

Bayshore Celebrates Sunshine State Readers

Bayshore Elementary School is excited to celebrate our Sunshine State Readers!  The Sunshine State Readers Awards Program is a statewide reading motivation program which encourages students to read independently for personal satisfaction.  Students earned various prizes throughout the year, including an ice cream party and trophies for those who read all 15 books!  Congratulations!
