Bayshore Celebrates Kids at Hope Day With Activities

For Kids At Hope Day, Bayshore Elementary students and staff participated in multiple activities in celebration. In addition to wearing our yellow & blue, our School Counselors appeared on the Morning Show to present the Four Aces Challenge to our students. In the Four Aces Challenge, students were charged with identifying at least two Aces in their lives. One from their home life and one from school. Our teachers also received their own 2×10 KAH Challenge. Bayshore Celebrates Chimpmas

Save the Chimps, the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary, asked for assistance during the holiday season creating safe decorations to be used for their Chimpmas Celebration.  Bayshore students donated recycled boxes and created paper chains that will be part of the chimpanzees celebration.  Pictured: Mrs. Reid, Bayshore Elementary School principal, donating the items to Save the Chimps representative.

Battle of the Books Championship at Manatee Academy

These 4th and 5th grade Manatee Academy students are thrilled with the prizes they received after competing in our recent Battle of the Books Championship match!  Students read 13-15 of the Sunshine State Young Reader Award nominees for this year.  Their overall favorite? Pie by Sarah Weeks.

Batter Up! St. Lucie County Education Foundation Celebrity Softball Game Benefits Scholarship Fund

Education Foundation, St. Lucie County will be hosting a celebrity softball game to raise money for public school teachers and students. The game will feature an all-star lineup of St. Lucie County firefighters vs. St. Lucie County public school educators. The first annual All-Star Softball game will be at First Data Field on May 12. Activities will begin at 3 p.m. with a variety of sponsors and vendors who support education. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) reached a positive agreement with its Communications Workers of America (CWA) partners on Thursday, August 24, for the 2017 – 2020 Contract which includes compensation and benefits for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Baptiste-Harris Receives John Morton Excellence in Teaching of Economics Award

Jacqueline Baptiste-Harris, a first grade teacher at Village Green Environmental Studies School, is making a difference that “exemplifies the importance of economic and financial education critical to students’ future success,” according to the Council for Economic Education. Bank of America Donates Funds to the Education Foundation

Bank of America provided the St. Lucie Education Foundation with a $6,000 grant to be used toward programs that help at-risk students in grades 9-12 with an intervention and life skills grant.  The Foundation has also applied for matching funds through the school district’s Education Foundation Matching Grant Funds Program.  This means that together, Bank of America and the Foundation will provide $12,000 towards the goal of helping students develop life skills, improve test scores, raise GPAs, and improve student achievement. Band Directors Fine Tune Skills in Rhythm and Jazz

The Jazz Band from Treasure Coast High School and musicians from Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition served as the “Clinic Band” for a professional development offered to area band directors.  The focus was on Rhythm Sections and Jazz Bands.
