CTE educators completed professional development focused on robotics and photonics with IRSC and Best Practices for industry certifications with  Certiport representatives. They were also provided with the opportunity to take industry certification exam(s).

Career & Technical Education Programs Showcased at Treasure Coast Business Summit

Multiple Career and Technical Education (CTE) program educators and students showcased their industry related skill sets at the Treasure Coast Business Summit.  CTE programs represented were Technical Design, International Business, Building Construction Technologies, and Allied Health.  This was a great opportunity for our students to network and demonstrate their knowledge and skills for our community members.

Career & Technical Education Entrepreneurship Showcase

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department recently hosted middle and high school students from across St. Lucie Public Schools for the CTE Entrepreneurship Showcase. Supported by business alliances, the event featured awards provided by sponsors. Students not only competed but also had the opportunity to network with post-secondary education leaders, business professionals, and entrepreneurs. The focus leading up to and during the showcase was on infusing lessons centered on entrepreneurship, innovation, and providing mentors to support students in developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Career-Ready Learning at Fort Pierce Central High School

This week, Fort Pierce Central is excited to recognize Mrs. Justice for the outstanding work happening in her Emerging Technology Business classroom. Her recent lesson on career preparation went beyond traditional instruction, giving students meaningful opportunities to practice skills they will use long after graduation. This week, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department at Treasure Coast High School administered the ASVAB to 240 11th and 12th-grade Academy students as part of a comprehensive career readiness initiative. Each student will receive personalized results highlighting their academic strengths and areas for growth. With guidance from CTE teachers, students will create career profiles on the ASVAB website, which blends academic and personality insights to match them with careers where they’re likely to thrive. The Career Connect conference was held at the MidFlorida Credit Union Event Center. This event focused on high school seniors for planning and exploring various career pathways. There were representatives from both industry and post-secondary institutions from skilled trades, professional and financial services, hospitality, art and technology, design, healthcare, and manufacturing industry sectors. The conference included sector exhibitors, vendors, guest speakers, keynote speaker, break out sessions, and hands-on demonstrations. Career and Technical Education Programs Connect with St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office Drone Team

Fort Pierce Westwood students from Ms. Mildred Brown’s Criminal Justice program, Mrs. Ursula Johnson’s Digital Media program, and Mrs. M.E. Musgrave’s Medical program joined the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team for a live presentation.  Students learned about the significance of the drone team to our law enforcement agencies and community, sUAS Part 107 industry certification, and career opportunities after high school.  Sergeant Wes Harbrin organized this event for SLPS students enrolled in these various programs.  Additionally, students preparing for their 911 Telecommunications industry certification exam were able to connect with our local law enforcement business and community partners! … Read More

    The Career and Technical Education (CTE) department has been taking its advisory board meetings to the next level.  The advisory board members include Educators from the CTE programs, business partners and post-secondary institutions (Indian River State College and Keiser University). Career and Technical Education – EDC Bus Tour

Career and Technical Education (CTE) collaborated with the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County (EDC), and Treasure Coast Manufacturers Association to host the Fall School Guidance Counselor’s Bus Tour.  This tour offered St. Lucie Public School’s Guidance Counselors, Graduation Coaches, and CTE Educators the opportunity to hear from local businesses and create a pipeline for their students interested in manufacturing, technical design, and culinary.  Stops on the tour included Builders FirstSource, Indian River Select, Sunshine Kitchen, Aviator College, and Aquaco to get a better sense of expectations and demand for potential employees in the industry.

Career and Reality Fair at WGK8

West Gate K-8 students learned about various high school Career and Technical Education programs from across the SLPS District through their Career and Reality Fair.  Students and instructors from Criminal Justice, Allied Health, Agritechnology, and Biomedical programs provided students with hand-on demonstrations. In addition, they provided information about curriculum. Bill Wilcox from Phoenix Medals spoke to students about the manufacturing industry and its continued growth potential. On September 11, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted a color guard for the Career and College Fair held in the gym. The color guard was commanded by Cadet Major Alexis Morris while the state flag was held by Cadet Sargent First Class Alexis Wilson. Guarding the national flag was Cadet Sargent First Class Emmalyne Lewiston and guarding the state flag was Cadet Second Lieutenant Michael Schmitt.
