Fort Pierce Central High School Dual Enrollment students participated in a fieldtrip championed by Instructor Robert Ott to Indian River State College. Once on the college campus, Katie Williams and her staff provided valuable information including library instruction and academic services for students. Cobras Take a Spin!

Move over Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right, Central’s PBIS Prize Wheel is spinning in action! Cobras are spinning the prize wheel at lunches every Monday and Wednesday for a myriad of prizes. Rewarding positive behaviors reinforces Cobra Nation’s expectations for a successful year. Teachers nominate students demonstrating expectations with a ticket to win. Students spin the prize wheel with a winner at every turn. Students get to enjoy a refreshment, prize, or Cobra perk! Keep up the positive choices Cobras!  

Cobras Pledge Not to Text and Drive

Fort Pierce Central High School conducted a week of training to increase awareness about the dangers of texting and driving. All drivers entering the FPC campus last week were asked to sign a pledge to NOT TEXT AND DRIVE and were given a thumb-ring inscribed with TXTL8R to remind them through the day. This campaign will culminate with Teen Awareness Week as part of FPC Homecoming 2015.

Cobras Organize And Make Impact

Our amazing Cobras organized events over the last month to discuss and bring attention to the issue of school shootings. These events included performances by our Louder Than a Bomb Team, Choir, Drama, and culminated with a student panel discussion. On Friday, May 4th, the audience included our Superintendent of Schools, police officers, local judge, commissioners, representatives, and many other community leaders — all listening to our students! We are so proud of our Cobras!        

Cobras Learning Leadership Techniques from the Pros!

Students in Ms. Darlene Brown’s class welcomed honored guests into their class for the day. Cobra staff members took time from their busy schedules to speak with students in Leadership Techniques classes. Cobras Feast with Lake Forest Park Residents

The Thanksgiving Feast is an annual event sponsored by Fort Pierce Central High School JROTC battalion and the Fort Pierce Central Culinary Program students that allows the students to meet and have a meal with the residents of the Lake Forest Park senior living home. This year, the Cobra Battalion cadets also partnered with the Fort Pierce Central High School Student Government Association and Fort Pierce Central High School Chorus students to provide the seniors with an even greater event than last year. Cobras Compete at National Ocean Sciences Bowl

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – Ft. Pierce Central High School’s (FPCHS) Cobra Pride came through in a respectable showing at the 19th Annual National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) Competition in Morehead City, North Carolina. Team members Andrew Caputo, Cody Nichols, Victor Alterizio, Bryce Starr, and Riley Kicker represented the school and finished 12th in the national competition. Cobras Come Together for Ms. Dowdy

Mackenzie Dowdy is a cobra through and through! In January of this year, she was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma or soft tissue cancer. At 46, her bravery propelled her into treatment, future surgeries, and ongoing chemotherapy. In support of Ms. Dowdy, Cobra Nation came together at Duffy’s Sports Grill to raise funds toward her medical expenses. Thanks to Ms. Dowdy’s son (pictured above) who works at Duffy’s for championing this event honoring and supporting his mother. Mr. Gardner and Mr. Siminski join Ms. Dowdy. Well-wishes from colleagues, students, and Ms. Dowdy’s family!

Cobras’ Art & Fire Make Learning Come Alive

Saturday, April 26, Ceramics III Honors and AICE Art & Design students were invited to participate in Raku Firing at the Indian River Clay Studio (IRCS) in Vero Beach. At 9am, the heat was turned on, and the outdoor Raku kiln was warming up. Students received a tour of the kiln room, clay and glazes preparation area, studio space, and workshop. Students premade their artwork at FPC’s ceramics studio, did a bisque fire, and coated their artwork with specialized Raku glazes. Cobra Yearbook Staff Takes Over Camp Orlando!

Camp Orlando is an elite 4-day journalism workshop geared toward Yearbook and Newspaper programs in high schools. The program offers multiple, interest-based tracks for students and advisors. Ms. Emily Royo attended the Experienced Advisor Academy and collaborated with other advisors in the area. Advisors shared best academic practices along with suggestions for classroom conditions and structure in order to maximize work efficiency while balancing strict deadline management with compassion. 400 Cobras Celebrated Learning Gains from PM3 to PM1! This week in Cobra Nation, winners keep on winning! The cafeteria became the celebration site for recognizing the outstanding achievements of 400 Cobras making learning gains from last year’s FAST PM3 to this year’s FAST PM1. Fort Pierce Central High School students got immersed in the possibilities for a future of their choosing! Cobra Seniors Enjoy Yearbook Signing

FPC’s Yearbook staff brainstormed ways to create importance and excitement around yearbook distribution. The staff decided to host a new event transforming a nostalgic tradition: yearbook signing.    Seniors got the first look at the 2024 Yearbook at this senior exclusive event to kick off yearbook distribution.
