CobrAs CollAborAte

Fort Pierce Central High School has a long legacy of Acceleration! Returning to a B rating only spurs us to achieve greater academic success on the way to being a CobrA-rated school. During teacher pre-service week, we have been preparing for our student success. Our professional learning sessions were incredibly productive, equipping us with innovative strategies to foster student success. We extend our sincere gratitude to the leaders lending their talent to present: Mrs. Torres (ELL Technology), Ms. Plaka, Ms. Laurino, Mrs. Bailer (Accountable Student Talk & Managing Response Rates), Ms. Gardner and Mr. Rivera (Engagement Strategies), Mrs. Armada and Ms. Williams (C.O.B.R.A. & “Dissecting the Question”), Mrs. Devries and Mrs. Santoro (PBIS), as well as Mr. Fitz-Coy and Mr. Cameron (CLP to CLP). CobrA nation will continue collaborative professional learning through monthly engagement opportunities for new and returning teachers.

Starting out the year, our dedicated team of 9th grade ELA, AICE General Paper, and Intensive Reading teachers have collaborated closely to develop a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with the CobrA approach to thinking outside of the box. Through meticulous analysis of standards, scales, rubrics, and targets, the team is committed to providing students with on-grade level instruction that fosters academic growth. The team’s diligent efforts are focused on enhancing student achievement and we eagerly anticipate the positive outcomes that will be realized at through-out the ever A-forward year.

Our Algebra and Leadership Techniques departments collaborate to enhance algebra student outcomes. Leadership Techniques teachers are dedicating 90-minute blocks on Thursdays and Fridays for IXL practice in their classrooms. A recent professional learning session focused on effective IXL monitoring strategies for both Algebra and Leadership Techniques teachers. Through this combined effort, we aim to significantly improve students’ mathematical proficiency. Only together can CobrA Nation Achieve great things!
