The winners in each of four employee categories for St. Lucie Public Schools were announced at the annual Night of the Stars gala celebration February 23 at Lincoln Park Academy. Fort Pierce Central High School (FPCHS) culinary arts teacher Margaret (Peggy) Ash and school plant manager Barbara Hisey were honored at the January 28, 2014, St. Lucie School Board meeting for the inaugural presentation of the S.T.A.R. Elks Lodge Holiday Giving

On Monday, December 14th, the Elks Lodge #1520 donated 11 pallets of toys, backpacks, clothing, personal hygiene products and food to 11 schools.  The first stop of the day was at Lakewood Park Elementary School. Elks Lodge #1520 Donation

Mr. Lenny Smallacombe of the Elks Lodge #1520 is a powerhouse advocate for students and was honored for spearheading donation efforts for St. Lucie Public Schools students. What started out six years ago as a weekend backpack program for five children has turned into an ever-growing platform of support. Mr. Smallacombe and his fellow lodge members have expanded their weekend food backpack program to hundreds of children, fulfilled special school program needs, provided complementary summer camp opportunities to students, secured grants for literacy projects, and supported students’ family nutrition needs during special times of the year. Ft. Pierce Elks Lodge #1520 has a heart for caring and sharing, especially when it comes to the youngest members in this community.  The organization’s Pantry and Backpack Program has made a positive difference in the lives of many SLPS children. On hand at a recent event were members of Chester A. Elizabeth Pruitt, Math Supervisor K-12, was presented a S.T.A.R. Award (Special Thanks and Recognition) on October 14th at the School Board Meeting. Elementary Science Showcase: A Celebration of Curiosity and Creativity!

On Saturday, April 6th, our school community came together for the Elementary Science Showcase, an event that ignited young minds and celebrated their scientific endeavors. Held at our district office, this showcase provided a platform for our elementary students to shine, share, and inspire. Students eagerly displayed their projects, engaging visitors in lively discussions. Whether presenting individually or as part of a group, their passion and knowledge were palpable. This experience served as a stepping stone for the St. Lucie County Regional Science and Engineering Fair STEM Competition. The elementary science showcase was held this past weekend at the Savannas Preserve State Park and the Oxbow Eco-Center.  With student work on display at both locations, it was a great opportunity for families and friends to enjoy learning about the students’ projects as well as visiting exhibit halls and nature trails. Elementary Drama Kings and Queens at CAST

Ms. Lynch’s elementary drama students were excited to deliver their first monologues to their classmates using their knowledge of projection, characterization, and movement. They did an excellent job practicing their acting skills, as well as proper audience etiquette. CAST drama students online and in-person also put their stage design abilities to the test by designing a set using a shoe box and modeling clay. Our CAST Performers are well-prepared not only for the stage, but also for the backstage aspects of theatre!

ELA Bootcamp: Titans Prepare for Success

Our dedicated students attended an ELA Bootcamp to gear up for their upcoming assessments. They spent the afternoon diving into complex texts, working collaboratively with their peers and receiving guidance from our committed instructors. The atmosphere was filled with determination and a shared goal of academic excellence. This bootcamp not only helped students enhance their reading and analytical skills but also showcased their incredible dedication and perseverance. EKG Requirement for Student-Athletes

EKGs are required for first-time high school student athletes in the 2026-27 school year.  Specifically, this requirement applies to students participating in high school athletics for the first time, including incoming 9th-grade student-athletes, and students in grades 10–12 who have not previously participated in an FHSAA-sanctioned sport. Students who have already participated in a high school sport are not required to obtain an EKG at this time; however, obtaining one is strongly recommended as a best practice for student health and safety. Eighth Graders at Palm Pointe Enjoying Science

Eighth grade students in Heather Huszar’s science classes at Palm Pointe were learning how to evaluate the law of conservation of mass by demonstrating and concluding that mass is conserved when substances undergo physical and chemical change.  An experiment involving baking soda, balloons, water, and vinegar demonstrated this concept.  Students were engaged and excited about learning a difficult science concept.  Pictured are eighth graders getting ready to conduct the experiment.

Eighth grade students from Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, pictured from left, John Rimes, Michael Williams and Michael Lyons prepare to launch their rockets that they made as projects for Thomas Carr’s science class. This project incorporated both math skills and science. The students had fun learning how to make the rockets and then watch as they launched their finished projects.
