Northport VPK-8 School on Floresta Drive in Port Saint Lucie welcomed back well over one thousand students on Monday, August 17. Through collaborative bargaining efforts, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) and Communication Workers of America (CWA), Local 3181 reached an agreement for compensation. “I commend our teams for working diligently to reach an agreement prior to the start of our school year. We appreciate all of our staff members for the contributions they make to the safe and caring learning environments for our students,” said Superintendent E. Wayne Gent. On July 9, 2015, the Centennial Lady Eagles Basketball Team gave back to the community by volunteering at Sarah’s Kitchen. The team volunteers twice a year; at Thanksgiving and during the summer. Thank you Lady Eagles for your time and dedication to our community.

Teachers gave up some of their summer break to take part in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) training. Teachers worked together to create STEM Design challenges that allow students to solve real-world problems. They designed lessons that will give students the opportunities to collaborate with peers, design a model and test the model for effectiveness.
