Fostering a Growth Mindset Summer Training

The Office of Teaching and Learning is excited to offer a summer training on Fostering a Growth Mindset.  It will focus on how to help students believe they can succeed in the classroom.  It is being offered through Canvas online from 6/4 – 7/31.  Participants receive 20 hours in-service credits and it meets ESE recertification.  Register via Frontline at www.mylearningplan.com

TCHS Art Crawl Success

On April 10 – 14, the Fine Art and Performing Art students of Treasure Coast High School hosted their Annual IMAGINE art show. This year, the show was hosted at TCHS. Visual Arts (Drawing, Painting, Graphic Design and Photography) and Performing Arts (Dance, Acting and Singing) were all a part of this show.  During the day, many teachers brought their classes to the visual arts to experience photography, painting, drawing and graphic design. Annual High School Art Show This Friday

FORT PIERCE, FL – The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opens Friday, April 20, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  This years’ show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor Building located at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. Student Chef Cook-Off This Tuesday

  FORT PIERCE, FL – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) Child Nutrition Services Department in collaboration with the High School Culinary Arts Program will host the premier Student Chef Cook-Off at Fort Pierce Central High School Cafeteria on April 17, 2018 from 4-6 pm. The Tasting and Awards portion begins at 5:30 pm.   The purpose of the event is for SLPS student chefs to create enticing entrees for the School Meals Program following the USDA guidelines for the National School Lunch Program. District Gathering

District Gathering – fun for all! Members of the St. Lucie Public Schools District Office Staff who are serving at various temporary satellite offices throughout the District since the hurricane flooded the Orange Blossom Business Center had the opportunity to convene at Allapattah Flats for a recent meeting.  Here, information about SLPS’s academic progress and facility updates was shared, a light luncheon was enjoyed, and a challenge to build a district office from sparse materials set the room abuzz with laughter.

Louder Than A Bomb Poetry Slam

Fort Pierce Central’s “Poison Pens” spoken word poetry team won Semi Finals in Jason Taylor’s 4th Annual Louder Than a Bomb” poetry slam. As one of the final four winning teams in the state of Florida, they move on to Team finals Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Nova Southeastern University. Congratulations!

WPE Odyssey

Congratulations to Windmill Point Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind Team that competed at the State Competition held at UCF! Their project held 305 pounds! Thank you to Mr. Caroglanian for working with his team! Way to go, Rising Stars!

Lincoln Park Academy Senior Athlete Wins Scholarship

Lincoln Park Academy was recently notified by the FHSAA that Senior Jamya Wiley is one of twelve female finalists for the Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team. Jamya will attend a banquet in Gainesville on June 11th and be awarded a $1,700.00 scholarship.  The over-all winner will be announced and will receive an additional $4,600.00. Congratulations and good luck to Jamya!

Northport Parents, Students and Faculty Celebrate Final Honor Roll of Year!

Northport is so pleased to celebrate our Third Grade Perfect Attendance, B Honor Roll, A Honor Roll and Principal’s Honor Roll. Our teachers and students have worked very hard and have earned this award. Many thanks to our parents who make sure that the classwork and homework is complete, attend parent conferences and make sure that their student is following classroom and school norms. Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Taylor, Ms. D’Argenio, Ms. Cirjaru, Ms. Claflin and Mrs. Wilson are to be commended for their diligence, patience and kindness working with our children. Many thanks to all who attended this wonderful celebration.

The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation congratulates the Young Floridian Scholarship Program Winners for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Young Floridian Award was established in 1988 by General Development Corporation to recognize outstanding seniors for achievement and service to their school and community. Young Floridian awards honor one St. Lucie high school senior in 15 academic or extracurricular disciplines. Winners were announced at the award ceremony on February, 21st at the Indian River State College McAlpin Fine Arts Theatre. CREATIVITY AWARDED IN HIGH SCHOOL WRITING CONTEST

Numerous public and private high school students in the four-county area of Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties participated in the Indian River State College Creative Writing Contest. The event is hosted annually by the English/Communications/Modern Languages Department. Contestants entered original short stories, one-act plays and poems for a chance to win scholarships and other awards.
