All the World’s a Stage!

The Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST) was thrilled to spotlight the school’s programs as the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce offered community leaders the opportunity to participate in an Executive Academy Leadership Day. Student ambassadors served as school history narrators and tour guides of the historic auditorium, the black box theater, and the dance studio.

Perfect Score on the FSA at Mariposa Elementary

At Mariposa Elementary, fourth grader Jesse Hindman received a perfect score on his third grade math FSA and received a certificate from the Governor for his hard work! Technology Tuesdays for Teachers!

Culinary Serves Up Salads on Grandparents Day

Northport K8 culinary students celebrated Grandparents Day by preparing, cooking and serving Taco Salads. Rachel Savela and her culinary students greeted fellow students and Grandparents Day luncheon guests by selling and serving tasty Taco Salads made to order! It was a hit!

Northport Celebrates First Student of the Month!

Northport is so thrilled to host parents and grandparents at the very first Student of the Month. The Northport community celebrated students who for demonstrating good citizenship, being a good friend, stepping up for a friend in need, and for being an all-around good kid. The school loves to celebrate our children and take every opportunity to invite families into the school as partners in education.

PSL Army JROTC Attacks Florida Institute of Technology Challenge Obstacle Course

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, cadets from the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion joined four other high school Battalions at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in Fellsmere, Florida. The cadets negotiated through various obstacles that tested their skill, strength, and ability to overcome hardships. Cadets participated in a hands-on experiences including Marine and Aerial Assault obstacle courses. Each consisted of vigorous activities testing their balance and fear of heights.  Some of these elements included Low Belly Over, Belly Crawl, High Step Over, and Confidence Climb. STAR Awards – Outstanding Service

The STAR Program’s focus is to recognize employees for their behaviors, skills and actions that correlate with the District’s vision and acknowledge those who exemplify its core values.     STAR recognitions for the month of September honored Marisol Abrahante, Nicki O’Neill (both from Student Services and Exceptional Student Education at St. Lucie West K-8 School) and Jimmy Hardison (from Transportation).  All three team members were commended for their outstanding service to others.  Congratulations!!  

AEDs Donated to SLPS

Cheryl and Ray Lalloo from the Jessica Clinton Foundation generously donated AED units to St. Lucie West K-8 and Windmill Point Elementary. A fundraising campaign with heart-shaped cookies from local Panera restaurants takes place each February, and students are encouraged to post pictures of themselves holding the heart-shaped cookies. The proceeds from the sale of the cookies are used to purchase AED units. The Jessica Clinton Foundation invites the community to participate in two upcoming events: Dedication Ceremony: September 29, 2018 Free Heart Screenings: November 3, 2018    

Treasure Coast Literacy Association

Ilyse Brainin and members of the Treasure Coast Literacy Association, formerly known as the St. Lucie County Reading Council, shared a proclamation with the St. Lucie County School Board entitled, “Promoting a Passion for Literacy.” The organization’s mission is to provide resources and ideas to help inspire educators to provide skills and techniques through events and professional development that will enable students to be successful learners and life long readers as well as supporting the community with literacy events.      

Dads Take Your Child To School Day Proclamation
