The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) was started in 2002 as a pilot program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in four states with the purpose of introducing school children to fresh fruits and vegetables. Trees are cleared, earth is leveled, and a footprint of the new St. Lucie Public Schools District Office is taking shape. Amid the progress, District Office staff and Economic Development Council representatives participated in an official groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Economic Development Council President Pete Tesch and Superintendent E. Wayne Gent spoke about the District’s progress and innovation just before they were joined by School Board Members who picked up shovels and donned construction hats for the official groundbreaking ceremony.

This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake proved to be inviting and exciting for participants in St. Lucie County as school teams and SLPS departments took to the lanes with other community organizations. The annual fundraiser is more than just bowling.  “It’s about the kids and raising money to support the mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters!”
