At Morningside Elementary, during music class, students in 3rd and 4th grade put their dynamics knowledge to the test! Students brought their “A-Game” to compete in a friendly game of trivia to help review different dynamics that are used in music.
What an amazing hands-on experience for five Morningside Elementary fifth-grade students! Each class sent one student to collaborate with a scientist at IRSC. The day commenced with an introduction to a robotic dog performing tricks, followed by a fascinating demonstration on how exhaled carbon dioxide increases water acidity. Throughout the rotations, students held real dinosaur fossils, extracted DNA from strawberries, explored robotics, and enjoyed a cosmic presentation in the planetarium. Students at MSE enthusiastically participated in the exciting project of writing and illustrating their own books. Each student showcased their creativity and storytelling skills, transforming ideas into unique stories accompanied by colorful illustrations. To recognize outstanding work, one student from each grade was selected as the grade-level winner by a panel of judges using a detailed rubric. These talented students demonstrated exceptional effort, imagination, and artistic talent. The MSE Student Council made a significant impact during KINDNESS Week, helping our school embrace the spirit of compassion. Throughout the week, council members showcased their creativity by decorating vibrant posters that inspired positivity. Morningside Elementary Primary Odyssey of the Mind team built 3 vehicles and created a performance that solved a problem. They made their own set, costumes, and props. On February 12th, they competed in the Regional Competition and were awarded first place and will be heading to States in March! Morningside Elementary School invited veterans from all branches of the armed forces to join students and staff in a tribute to honor their service to our county. On Thursday, November 9, the school’s hallway was lined with students waving flags, clapping, and cheering as veterans made their way to the school’s cafeteria.
