Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition third graders have been studying character traits and how they affect the sequence of events in a story. The children decorated pumpkins to match the character in their story along with creating thinking maps and writing an essay. Students from White City Elementary in Mrs. Buescher’s kindergarten class were able to observe various types of pumpkins and gourds.  Miss Kitty read them a story and students were able to tell the events that happened in the correct order.  She then cut a pumpkin open and the students could explore the inside.  The students were able to understand the properties of matter and categorize the pumpkin using their five senses.  Each student brought a pumpkin home.  

Kindergarten students in Melanie Francisco’s class enjoyed a unit on pumpkins.  The students charted their schema and used their five senses to investigate the physical attributes of a pumpkin.  After some awesome predictions of  what they thought might be inside the pumpkin, they opened it up to find squishy, gooey, strings, and seeds.  Julian Wright loved being the first one to check it out!

Frances K. Sweet 5th grade students were guided in a positive direction by rising senior Haniya Shareef of Lincoln Park Academy.  She conducted a motivational and career-oriented seminar for students by facilitating discussions about their potential career paths, presumed weaknesses, and identified strengths. Students were encouraged to recognize their weaknesses but refuse to accept them. Additionally, they were encouraged to emphasize and develop their strengths in order to utilize them as they explore and develop their potential career path. St. Lucie West K-8 students, teachers, staff, and volunteers enjoyed a warm, breezy, spring day at the annual PTO sponsored Spring Carnival! Everyone enjoyed a variety of bounce houses, fun and competitive games, a petting zoo, train rides, a dunk tank, and delicious treats. All reveled in the camaraderie and friendships that have been built throughout the year before culminating with the end-of-the-year assessments. A BIG THANK YOU to SLWK 8’s PTO for planning such a memorable event for our Shark family.  

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Northport PTO! Northport community has been blessed with a robust and dynamic Parent and Teacher organization. PTO recently honored teachers and staff with a beautifully orchestrated holiday luncheon. The ladies served teachers and staff a lovely chicken parmesan dinner that included ziti, salad, rolls, and desserts catered by Big Apple Pizza. Southport’s PTO Vice President, Ruth Altvater and PTO Treasurer, Colleen Korpon pictured here are helping organize and wrap holiday baskets of food.  There were 10 baskets made available to our Southport Middle families for the holidays.  All the food was available through the PTO Food Bank and was courtesy of community donations and students and families of Southport.

The PTO at Oak Hammock K8 hosted a Fundraiser Night at Blaze Pizza in Tradition. Students and staff enjoyed an evening of dining with family and friends while raising funds for the school. A great time was had by all who attended .     

PSLPD came to read holiday stories to first graders for their holiday tea on December 20th. Students enjoyed cookies, juice and a question/answer session with some police officers.

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion cadets participated in a car wash held at O’Rielly’s Auto Parts. Cadets put together and took part in this fundraiser to support our award-winning Raider Team. Cadets spent four hours cleaning vehicles and building esprit de corps. Donations were given because of hard work and dedication to our Jaguar Battalion. Cadet Sergeant Shane Canady was the main coordinator in charge of this annual proceeding. 

On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Port St Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Drill Team competed in its AREA 3 Regional Drill Meet at Jupiter High School. This is the most important drill meet of the season because it determines if the team can advance to the state competition. Cadets participated in fourteen group events, and we are so proud to say the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion won 1st place overall and will be moving forward to compete at the state level on April 13th! Students in Ms. Myers Web Design course worked very hard to learn how to build websites.  Everyone knows how difficult this can be! This week, students are presenting their hard work! Great job Ms. Myers and students!

Mr. Madden and his theatre students worked so hard this semester with Morningside Elementary students to prepare for their musical theater showcase. The house was packed and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the talent! The Port St. Lucie High School students were well prepared and handled themselves like professionals as they hosted the show. It’s exciting to see the next generation of talent on the rise. #futurejaguars

Congratulations to the new Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who earned their certification from the Florida Department of Nursing this week at Port St. Lucie High School.  90% of students in Mrs. Cebelak’s CNA program are now able to begin their career path as CNAs and support our community!
