Students in Mrs. Mukhamedov’s 5th-grade class at Morningside Elementary prepare for a Penda Party. Penda is an online, interactive gaming platform that brings students real-life experiences tied with formative questions to test their understanding. Students are encouraged to pass 2 lessons with 80% or better each week, and they will have an opportunity to win Penda Prizes! Ask your child if they met their Penda goal for the week. Southport Middle School Students Enjoy First Pep Rally of the Year

On Monday, August 28th, 6th-grade students at Southport Middle School experienced their first pep rally of the school year. As part of the festivities, students participated in a cheer competition, competed in a cup-stacking relay race, and claimed their victory as the most spirited school team. Southport’s mascot, Ivan, had an amazing time! Once a Hurricane, always a Hurricane!        

LPA IB Students Building a Mesocosm

Lincoln Park Academy IB 3 students build a mesocosm which involves creating a controlled environment to study the interaction in ecosystems on a smaller scale. The mesocosm is an 8-week project that demonstrates the interaction of biotic and abiotic factors within a small ecosystem. Students must collect data on the organism’s growth, behavior, and interactions, as well as environmental parameters, then they analyze the collected data to draw conclusions about how the ecosystem functions in this controlled setting.      

LPA Senior Band Members Host “Instrument Intros”

Members from the Lincoln Park Academy Wind Ensemble collaborated with the 6th-grade band students and demonstrated the sounds of each band instrument. The students were able to get a preview of the wonderful band culture at LPA and select their instrument of choice. The 6th-graders were highly enthusiastic, polite, and eager to begin their journey into becoming musicians. Go Greyhounds!

Northport K-8 Students Get the Blood Pumping

Seventh-grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class performed experiments to lower their blood pressure and pulse rates. These students are currently studying vital signs as part of their Medical Detectives unit.

College Readiness Presentation – Fort Pierce Central; Allied Health

Fort Pierce Central High School students in the Allied Health program were provided an opportunity to participate in a College Readiness presentation.  This presentation was special as it was hosted by Ms. Shannon Robinson, a Fort Pierce Central High School alumni and current University of Florida Dental student.  Students from Ms. Charles and Mrs. Young’s classes were provided tips for success in high school and college.  The presentation included a wealth of information from high school engagement and leadership opportunities to college scholarships. Congrats to the 2023 @CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Program awardees! The honor recognizes their academic excellence and hard work in high school, and that’s a cause for celebration.  Four students at Port St. Lucie High School earned academic honors from @CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Programs. TCHS Titan Sound Performs During Lunch for Students

Treasure Coast High School Titan Sound performed for students during lunches on Friday afternoon ahead of our first home football game of the season. Titan Sound played a number of sets for our students and staff. The students are looking forward to seeing Titan Sound in action on the field!

Morningside Elementary Students Make Connections with Content!

As part of the first Social Studies topic, students in Mrs. Eibl’s class learned that citizens can write letters to the President and mail them to the White House. Each student wrote and asked questions. Letters will be mailed out to see if we get a response. Fingers crossed! #MSEshinesBRIGHT

Hooray for Lawnwood Leopards

All kindergarten families were invited to our Kindergarten Orientation hosted by the teachers. Parents were provided information about grade level benchmarks, LWN reading logs, homework procedures, reading tools, and strategies for a solid reading foundation. This was another EPIC parent night at Lawnwood Elementary.

SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC Earns Distinguished Unit with Honors Award

  The Saint Lucie West Centennial Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company earned the Area 7 (Florida) Distinguished Unit Award with Honors.  It is the 5th consecutive year that the “Black Talon” Company has earned the “Distinguished Unit Award” and the 3rd consecutive year that they have earned “Honors”. The NJROTC awards the top 30% of units the Distinguished Unit awards and only the top 5% earn Honors.  The units earn points by participating in various community events throughout the school year, as well as competing in Drill, Academic, and Physical Fitness Events throughout the state. FPC Volleyball Team Sets to Score!

  Congratulations to the Fort Pierce Central High School volleyball team on their victory against South Fork 3 sets to 2. After being down 2 sets to 0 midway through the third set, our Cobras mounted their comeback. Their dynamic resiliency resulted in winning the last 3 sets. Our team exhibited FPC pride during their home opener defending Cobra Nation!  

Cobra Yearbook Staff Takes Over Camp Orlando!

Camp Orlando is an elite 4-day journalism workshop geared toward Yearbook and Newspaper programs in high schools. The program offers multiple, interest-based tracks for students and advisors. Ms. Emily Royo attended the Experienced Advisor Academy and collaborated with other advisors in the area. Advisors shared best academic practices along with suggestions for classroom conditions and structure in order to maximize work efficiency while balancing strict deadline management with compassion. As Treasure Coast High School prepares for their first home football game of the season, Titan Sound is also preparing for their first performance. The band students have been working day in and day out to ensure they are ready for Friday night. They are even getting creative using unique spaces on campus to practice. Titan Sound has been under the leadership of Mr. Ingram since 2020. LPA Student Success Assemblies

On Tuesday, August 22, Lincoln Park Academy students and Lincoln (our school mascot) came together to celebrate last year’s accomplishments and set the stage for success for this upcoming school year. Students participated in a review of school-wide expectations led by Principal Herrington, Dean Cobb, and Dean Harris. Lincoln Park Academy students strive to achieve high academic goals through being productive citizens both within and outside of our school community. Go Greyhounds!

The countdown is over and football season is here! Gathering at the game starts at the heart of Cobra Nation. FPC Boosters give a grand send-off to our Cobra football team by sharing their game-winning enthusiasm and filling their plates with a hearty spaghetti dinner! Cobra Nation staff are spotted supporting their team with another fun-filled and food-filled time before kick-off. Cobra Nation fans are ready for another great season! Go Cobras!

Cobra Pep Rallies are Legendary!

The first pep rally of the year brings a sense of energy, enthusiasm, and celebration to Cobra Nation! In a way that only Cobras can, students at both lunches showed up and showed off their purple and gold pride. Band, Flag Core, Cheerleaders, SGA, and Dance Team dialed up the spirit for our Cobra Football team. More than ever, school spirit takes on new meaning, new purpose, and new direction for a school with over 3,200 students. Cobra Nation is a community of its own–one heart, one spirit, many voices!
