White City Administration Appreciates All

A wonderful breakfast was served by Principal Roberto Bonsenor and Assistant Principal Simmie Burns. Staff were treated to eggs, sausage, toast, grits, and pastries. All of the Wildcats are so thankful for a great Administrative Team!  

White City 1st Grader Earns Top Fundraiser

White City Elementary School congratulates first grader Madison Maclachlan in Ms. Bianchi’s class! Madison was the school-wide top fundraiser for Jump Rope for Heart! Madison raised $370. This money is donated to the American Heart Association whose primary mission is to help “build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”  We are so proud of you Madison!  

Wheels and Motors Car Show Color Guard

On Saturday, December 5th, the Port St. Lucie HS JROTC Jaguar Battalion traveled to Keiser University to present the colors for the Wheels and Motors Car Show. The car show featured many different cars such as Corvettes and Maseratis, as well as classics such as Packards and a McLaren. Commanding the presentation of the colors was Cadet Command Sergeant Major Mayoliv Hernandez, followed by Cadet First Class Mery Fuentes as state flag bearer, Cadet First Sergeant Devin Callwood as right guard, and Cadet Second Lieutenant Catherine Cabellero as left guard. What is the oxygen level of water?

Students from Nardi Routten’s fourth grade class at F.K. Sweet Elementary recently enjoyed an unique  learning experience at Blind Creek Park. Students rotated through four different activities: seining, beach clean-up, water testing, and mangrove planting/measuring.  Jennifer Fleschner, a  parent volunteer helped Jason Moore and Annamarie Brosnihan test the river water for oxygen levels.  The students concluded that the deeper the water level, the higher the oxygen levels.

What an Exciting Day at Lawnwood Elementary School

The Lawnwood campus was buzzing as special vehicles rolled in, and community members took time out of their day to connect with our students. Classes rotated through each visit, learning what it takes to do these important jobs and how each role supports our community every day. Students listened closely as they heard about daily responsibilities, the tools and equipment used on the job, and the training and teamwork required to serve others. WGK8 8th Graders Travel to Washington, D.C.

West Gate K8 8th grade students enjoyed an educational experience as they toured Washington D.C. just prior to break. Some were even selected to participate in the “Change of Wreath” ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery.

Westwood’s Reading Department Use Drama to Learn About Invasive Species

Westwood’s Reading Department collaborated on the Quarterly STEAM lesson on Invasive Species.  The classes began with a Nearpod and videos that explained which animals are not native to Florida.  Students also answered riddles about the animals.  To demonstrate the impact on our native species, each of the 6 classes was designated a specific “invading” animal and, following a script, took turns “invading” the hallway where the native animals were gathered.  Invaders included feral pigs, red headed agamas, iguanas, monk parakeets, pythons, and Cuban tree frogs.  The script followed the timeline of when the animals first came to our state.  After … Read More

The PBIS Prize Patrol is in full swing at Fort Pierce Westwood Academy! Each week, members of the PBIS Committee visits classrooms to reward students who follow our S.M.A.R.T Expectations (Safety, Mindful, Accountable, Respectful, and Think Win-Win).
