Oak Hammock K8 Student Names Port St. Lucie’s Street Sweeper

Ruby Isenhower, a second-grade student at Oak Hammock K8, won the Port St. Lucie “Name the Street Sweeper” contest. Ruby was one of many students who submitted a name. The name that she submitted was “Sweep Caroline”, based on the song Sweet Caroline that was written by Neil Diamond. City Council Members, along with Kona Ice, recognized Ruby by rewarding her whole class with a Kona Ice party at school. Bayshore is Moving Up!

Bayshore Elementary is a “B” school! On December 11, 2023, the State of Florida released school grades for the 2022-2023 school year. Bayshore is one of five schools in St. Lucie County that increased one letter grade. Congratulations to our students, teachers, and staff. We are extremely proud of the determination and dedication of our students and staff! As we head into 2024, we will continue to provide quality instruction while building meaningful relationships with students and families. Santa’s Visit To Village Green

Village Green Elementary School’s PBIS Committee hosted a “Pancakes with Santa” breakfast for students and their families. Our Village Green community was able to spend a morning with Santa and his special elf while enjoying a delicious breakfast and fun Christmas crafts. It was a magical and festive morning!

SLPS HBCU/HSI College Fair

St. Lucie Public Schools will hold their annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions College Fair at the Havert L. Fenn Center on January 25, 2024. LPA 9th Grade MYP IB Students Cruise the Indian River Lagoon in the Name of Science

A group of our 9th-grade students took a research cruise with FIU Harbor Branch Scientists to study the Indian River Lagoon aboard their research vessel. Students tested water quality and biodiversity in the lagoon. They used the ROV to see what was happening at the bottom! After the cruise, we went to the visitor center to see what is happening with Aquaculture at FIU Harbor Branch and their captive breeding program for saltwater aquarium fish. Many people don’t know that Harbor Branch has the largest breeding program in the country for saltwater aquariums!

At Bayshore Elementary, during Mrs. Enoch’s and Mrs. Pank’s class, students completed an investigation task requiring them to present evidence and explain their knowledge of sound and light energy.  

National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony

6th through 8th grade students at Oak Hammock K8 School participated in an induction ceremony for the National Junior Honor Society. The purpose of this organization is to promote leadership and build character among middle school students. Students are also provided with an opportunity to grow academically as they prepare for upper-level classes in high school. Members of the NJHS will serve as leaders of the student body as they Level up Learning, Level Up Success!

Hands-on Learning at Lakewood Park

Third graders at Lakewood Park Elementary have been working hard at having FUN with math and science! From using points to create Sum Farms, creating their own manipulatives, and building model bridges during Stop and Stem Day to help Everglades’ animals avoid a highway, third graders have been exploring, smiling, and celebrating their way through this year’s math and science topics!

TCHS AFJROTC Flight Academy

Treasure Coast High School is excited to announce of the 150 AFJROTC cadets selected worldwide for this Summer’s AFJROTC Flight Academy. TCHS AFJROTC had 3 cadets on the list.  Cadets Michael Brandt, Jayden Beiter, and Christian Gatto were selected on the “alternates” list for this summer. This is the first time we’ve had three chosen, and that’s a tribute both to their hard work and preparation for the selection process. If our cadets are selected, they will return to TCHS for their senior year with Private Pilot Licenses in hand. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Central’s Key Club Makes the Season Bright

Tis the busy season for good works by the Fort Pierce Central Key Club! Sponsor Mrs. Denise Peschio and 100 members participated in the Fort Pierce Sights and Sounds Parade in early December. Then, volunteers helped at the annual Rivers Ridge Elementary School’s Holiday shop. Next, Key Club added some holiday decor at Chester A. Moore Elementary School. Finally, Key Club members helped bag gifts for the local, annual Toys for Tots.

AVID Guest Speaker – Author Jean Wright “Sew Sister” Visits Chester A. Moore

As an AVID School, Chester A. Moore Elementary teaches students that they can be whatever they want in life – with the right combination of effort and motivation.  Ms. Jean Wright helped bring home that message when she spoke to our students last Friday.  In two assemblies, she read aloud a new biography about her life as a NASA seamstress entitled, “Sew Sister: The Untold Story of Jean Wright and NASA’s Seamstresses” by Elise Matich.  Thanks, Ms. Wright, for inspiring our young explorers to shoot for the stars in whatever they wish to become!  

Lawnwood’s Annual Holiday Performance

It is a season of joy at Lawnwood Elementary.  Together we learned about various Christmas traditions through drama, music, and dance.   A special thank you goes out to Ms. Evans, Lawnwood’s music teacher, for directing and coordinating the entire production.  GO LEOPARDS!

FPC Danced into Winter’s Wonderland

Ms. Leonie Poku and FPC’s talented all-star cast of dancers delighted family and friends in Cobra Nation with spectacular seasonal offerings. From dramatic themes of elegance juxtaposed with the essence of jovial interpretations of iconic holiday numbers, the performances demonstrated the reach and range of FPC dancers.  

Preapprenticeship Opportunities at TCHS – Engineering/Manufacturing

Mr. Phil DePuy’s students from Treasure Coast High School (Engineering and Manufacturing programs) were afforded an opportunity to participate in a presentation hosted by Colleen Gill (Apprenticeship Navigator) from CareerSource Research Coast.  Students learned about apprenticeship opportunities available to them after high school along with education and career options for those wanting to pursue a career in the industrial manufacturing industry.  Mr. DePuy offers the pre-apprenticeship program for students enrolled in his program at TCHS.  Ms. Colleen Gill is also an Engineering/Manufacturing Advisory Board Member.

Floresta Field Days

Our Dolphins had a blast during their Winter Field Days!  It was a great way to enjoy the chilly weather with the anticipation of Winter Break.  Our PE Coaches, Erin Perman and Jared Kay did a great job organizing student favorites such as sack races, hurdle relays, and the 3 legged race.

Central’s Winter Band Concert

Memories: A Winter Holiday Concert Ushering in the cheeriest season of the year is greeted by FPC’s Performing Arts concerts and performance celebrations. Band Director Mr. Joshua Daniels proudly presented Fort Pierce Central’s annual Winter Band Concert entitled “Memories: A Winter Holiday Concert.” This year’s concert featured Jazz Band performances of Kosma’s “Autumn Leaves,” Yasinitsky’s “Tomorrow’s Memories,” and Marks’ “Rudolph’s Mambo.” Next, themes from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with special performances by Esteban Acosta, Junior Dubon, Jasmine Gabriel, Wendell Remy, and Makayla Vasser.  The Concert Band followed with Sheldon’s “Snow Globe,” Standridge’s “Wintertide,” with Percussion Ensemble’s performance of Herndon’s “Toboggan,” along with Winter … Read More
