Great job to A’aliyah Ventura, Abbi Cartagena, Chase Justin Brown and Colton Martin for being selected as Northport’s November and December GiveBack2Kids Students of the Month. Great job and many thanks to our business partners, James Monds and David Gornitzky, for bringing this great opportunity to the students of Northport. We are fortunate to have such wonderful community partners who see value in supporting student achievements.  

Please help us congratulate Northport School Related Employee of the Year, Parris Lee. Congratulate our First Year Teacher of the Year, Michael Spivey, and our Distinguished Minority Educator of the Year, Zachary Francis. To top off a stellar list, please congratulate Lorrell Ceville as Northport Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year! Nice work teachers!  

We celebrate a successful 5K for our Northport middle grades Heart and Sole team! Wonderful job everyone ❤  

Northport culinary students were guests at the Daytona State College culinary competition. The 8th grade culinary students were spectators rooting for St. Lucie West Centennial High School and Fort Pierce Central High School in the culinary competition, waiter relay and edible arrangements competition. This was a great experience for our young chefs.  

Bayshore Elementary School’s kindergarten team received a very special visit from Mrs. Mullan who teaches VPK at the school.  Mrs. Mullan participated in kindergarten’s celebration of Holidays Around the World. She shared the special story of Diwali, brought interesting artifacts, and wore a beautiful cultural dress. Diwali is the five-day festival of lights celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Taking flight! 8th grade students in Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class have been working hard designing their own airplanes online and constructing them out of balsa wood. Students competed against one another both in an on-line simulator and in real life!        

Congratulations to Lincoln Park Academy’s Jonathan Geraghty. Jonathan won his second gold medal at this year’s FHSAA State Dive meet November 17th.  This was the first time since 1955-56 that a Treasure Coast diver has won back-to-back gold medals.

Forest Grove Middle School is excited to share that the Forest Grove SUPERIOR Chorus BROUGHT IT for a third time at the Holiday Music Festival in Universal Studios on Friday! They won 1st Place for Middle School Choir then took top honors as GRAND CHAMPION for Middle School Vocal Performance overall! What a great day! Please join us at our WINTER CONCERT on Thursday at Ft. Pierce Central High School at 6:30 p.m. to see this dynamic choir in action!  

Northport Breakfast With Santa was a wonderful success. Larry Kaskey and his 7th grade Northstar students at Northport are having fun and learning about how to build a working volcano. Great hands-on lessons! The students are loving the lessons and being outside on this glorious day!  

Southport Middle School students have been working on a number of service projects this year. For their service project, the Hawks team chose to raise funds and collect donations to benefit Save the Chimps, the world’s largest privately funded chimpanzee sanctuary located in Fort Pierce. As part of the service learning project, the students have been collecting blankets, food, toys, etc. to donate to the sanctuary. Northport Principal Glenn Rustay gave our Northport Media Center Christmas decorations an “A” Grade after the Student of the Month celebration. HATS OFF to Mr. Rustay for topping off our “It’s A Hallmark Christmas @NP.” Everything we do at Northport is with our children and families in mind. Stop over and visit our “Hallmark Christmas @NP!”

On November 28, Mariposa Elementary had an assembly to honor men and women who have served and those who are currently serving in the United States Military.  Our students were encouraged to invite a family member or friend who is a Veteran or currently serving to attend this assembly. During the program, a group of Veterans came to speak to the students. Mr. Chad Guess had his Mariposa Marching Band Drumline put on an amazing performance. We are so thrilled to announce our Student of the Month for November. Students are selected for being a good friend, improving their attitude, standing up for someone else, being a good citizen and many other reasons. Students are selected by their teachers and sometimes, by a class consensus. We are so proud of these kids! Many thanks to all our parents who attended the Student of the Month. On Monday and Tuesday, November 19 and 20, 2018, many cadets led by Cadet Captain Brianna Harris and Cadet Sergeant James Mikovsky, along with Cadet Sergeant First Class Lawrence Moleon Mathews, and Cadet Private Heaven Savinon, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lila Meade, Cadet Corporal Ashley Armendarez, Cadet Master Sergeant Max Marrero, Cadet Private Damien Borkowski, volunteered to help the St. Lucie County Fire District in the Annual Big Heart Brigade. Palm Pointe’s Junior Beta members attended the Florida State Beta Convention in Orlando this week.  The National Beta Organization is a service based group that focuses on cultivating the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among students. This organization celebrates students who strive to become the leaders of tomorrow. Students competed in individual and group competitions against other Beta chapters. On Saturday, November 10, 2018, our male and female Raider Teams competed at South Fork High School Area 3 Regional Raider Meet. Each team competed in all five events including rope bridge, obstacle course, cross country rescue, tire flip, and team run for the male and female teams. Area 3 Regional Raider Meet is the biggest Raider Meet of the season; it determines which team moves on to the FL State Finals. Students and families at Palm Pointe Educational Research School came out to participate in an Escape Room Event.  This event was designed to allow students to work together in solving various academic tasks that led them to clues.  These clues revealed special codes to lock boxes that revealed their next tasks.  Escape room tasks included different types of government systems, FSA Mathematical questions, language and editing tasks, and research on the inventions of Benjamin Franklin.  Students had to use black lights and QR codes to assist them in revealing the correct answers.  Both students and families had a terrific time … Read More

On Friday November 9, 2018, Port St. Lucie High School’s Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s color guard presented our nation’s colors for a Veterans Day ceremony at the independent and assisted living retirement community Harbor Place in Port St. Lucie. Commanding the color guard was Cadet Sergeant Lawrence Moleon- Mathews, accompanied by Cadet Commander Sergeant Major Victoria Diaz, Cadet Sergeant Justin Bennett as state guard, and Cadet Private First- Class Emma Lewiston as National Guard. Members of the community were thankful to have a color guard present for the duration of the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.
