Partnership with School Board Celebrated

Pete Tesch and Jill Marasa from Economic Development Council (EDC), Rich Kolleda from Workforce Readiness Taskforce (WRT), and Brian Bauer from CareerSource Research Coast thanked the School Board for supporting this summer’s Boot Camps and acknowledged the positive partnership that they have with SLPS. Ready to Work Boot Camps were established at the request of manufacturers and trades seeking employees. The WRT was started in 2015 as a result of the EDC’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan to explore workforce readiness and education improvements that has grown to 30 plus regional stakeholders.

St. Lucie Public Schools Teachers Recognized as Microsoft Innovator Educator Experts for 2019-2020

St. Lucie County, FL – Laurie Boyer and Julia Hilburn, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) teachers, have been selected as Microsoft Innovator Educator (MIE) Experts for 2019-2020.  Chief Academic Officer Dr. Helen Wild explained that her team was delighted to learn of the recognition.  “Laurie and Julia are the digital trendsetters in our district. Safety Fest 2019

Friends, families, businesses, and organizations came together on Saturday, April 27th for a day of fun, food, festivities, and demonstrations at the 5th Annual Safety Fest held at the Digital Domain Stadium in Port St. Lucie. The Ft. Pierce Central High School JROTC Color Guard and St. Lucie West Centennial High School Band opened the event by presenting the Colors and playing the National Anthem. St. Lucie Public Schools was represented by Transportation, FDLRS, Media Services, Magnet School Programs, and General Programs of Study.

Southport Middle School Wraps Up National School Breakfast Week #NSBW19

The Southport Middle School Cafe staff teamed up with art teacher Brenda Pecora and attendance clerk Linda Nelson in a race to make National School Breakfast Week an enjoyable time for everyone at school. Community Comes Together for Southport Middle School Career Fair

The Southport Middle School Guidance Department held a Career Fair for our seventh and eighth grade students to support them in career exploration. The event tied into the Naviance classroom lessons that counselors facilitate, which promotes career awareness and helps students develop a deeper understanding of their talents, skills, and personality traits. The community really came through for this event, with professionals from a wide variety of careers for students to meet and greet. Number of PBIS Model Schools Continues to Grow

Southport Middle School Student Council Beach Clean Up

Southport Middle School Student Council led the way for an environmental service project to clean up local beaches. The “Beach Clean Up” is just one of Southport’s many service project initiatives that students are participating in this school year. The cleanup took place at Jensen Beach.      

TCHS HOSA LEADS THE WAY

On Sept. 27th thirty-one TCHS HOSA Club members traveled from TCHS to Jupiter to participate in HOSA’s Regional Fall Leadership Conference.  During the conference, HOSA students had the opportunity to observe the parliamentary process by listening to campaign speeches and voting for different candidates running for their prospective offices at the regional level.  Members also voted on this year’s HOSA t-shirt design as well as learning about the HOSA national service project: National Pediatric Cancer Project.  Our Club will participate with this effort by raising awareness and funds to support this foundation in research and development for a cure for … Read More
