St. Lucie County, FL – Laurie Boyer and Julia Hilburn, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) teachers, have been selected as Microsoft Innovator Educator (MIE) Experts for 2019-2020.
Chief Academic Officer Dr. Helen Wild explained that her team was delighted to learn of the recognition. “Laurie and Julia are the digital trendsetters in our district. It’s no surprise that Microsoft is recognizing their ability to effectively use technology to enhance the learning environment in classrooms across our schools.”
According to Microsoft, Boyer and Hilburn were selected for this prestigious recognition because they are “self-driven, passionate about their work, have a true collaborative spirit, and strive to inspire students with outside-the-box thinking on technology in education.” As MIE Experts, they will have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from other technology experts around the world, test new educational tools for Microsoft, and build capacity within SLPS. Microsoft describes recipients as “agents of change” tasked with “creating an environment of innovation in education using technology.”
Boyer works as a Recruitment and Outreach Specialist for the Magnet School MSAP Grant Team while Hilburn currently serves as a Technology Support Specialist on the Talent Development Team.
